It's funny how your worst enemies always seem to
turn out to be all of your
best friend's best friends
But I folded and I told
These aren't things I saved to sing you
but I folded, I told
So draw or throw and I will explode

It's time for you to choose
the bullet or the chapstick
And you are far too cute or whatever he said

Every time I hear it I am wishing I was great
I wish her... past tense my best friend
But I folded and I told
These aren't things I say to save me
But I folded, I told
I hope she's caught in the explosion

It's time for you to choose
the bullet or the chapstick
And you are far too cute or whatever he said

It's time for you to choose
It's time for you to choose
the bullet or the chapstick
This is me in his room
This is me in his room
This is me in his room

Red, gold, I told
We don't play fair
Red, gold, I told
We never stand too close

So I update this almost every single day for you
I begin to hate you for your face and not just the things you do
Go tell him how my wrist is sore
from pulling at your insides all night
Nothing that you do is new to anything or anyone but you

General Comment:Most of you are completely wrong. John Nolan ex singer of TBS/ now back in TBS and Jesse Lacey were best friends. Jesse caught John sleeping with his girlfriend. They hated each other. Then they forgave each other, and are now best friends again. Pretty much the majority of songs on this album are about John or the girl. 70 times 7 is obviously written about John and how much Jesse hates him. Theres no 'I' in team is Johns version of accounts. Both bands sing a line from each song. In TBS They sing ' Is that what you call tact? Your as subtle as a brick in the small of my back so lets end this call and end this conversation. And as for 'It's time for you to choose, the bullet or the chapstick.' That could be aimed at the girl or John.

General Comment:The "controversy" Are you serious? Everyone knows it's a classic case of Adam Lazzara stole Brand New Singer's girl. Hence "there's no i in team" vs. "seventy times 7" song meanings. I'll assume you guys' ignorance was because it was 2002. wise up. or google, either one.

General Comment:You know what's weird? There was a news story about a guy who dodged a bullet by bending over to pick up his Chapstick. I was convinced that was what the reference was, but this song came out three years before the news story.

    Brand New are prophets, no?

General Comment:i think the bullet or the chap stick line means you can take the bullet (get out of my life forever) or the Chap stick (start kissing my ass to make up for what you have done so much that you will need Chap Stick)

    but thats just my opinion

General Comment:Hello fellow Brand New fans. I know many of you probably get annoyed at how many bands go mindlessly promoting themselves on other bands comment pages/walls, as I do. I post this only because Brand New is a huge influence on all the members of my band and I love these guys to death. So if you love Brand New and have a few minutes free check us out at:

General Comment:I thought this opening lyric was about daryl palumbo fro gj. MOst of the bands from the LI scene used to have writing sessions with each other. I guess there was a dispute with Jesse and Daryl during that time and Jesse wrote this. I have no idea. Cuz the ending verse it sounds like "Pink Roses" is playing...which is a GJ song.

General Comment:What does this song mean to me...?

Everything. Anyone who hates me is best friends with people who love me. It's a sick ironic thing. When you have a group of friends and two are at odds with each other you almost feel resentful of your other friends who remained friends with the person who hurt you. I'm thinking he is screwing with the girl who cheated on him (either literally or metaphorically) example: "Go tell him how my wrist is sore from pulling at your insides all night". To me it's almost like yeah, it was sex when she cheated with his best friend, but he holds the real power over her either way. It's almost a song to make the other guy jealous. "We don't play fair"? His friend didn't at all play fair and now he is not playing fair by maybe outing him to her with whatever ammo he has or outing him to her...example "I folded and I told. These aren't the things I say to save me". He was trying to be the bigger person but he folded and he spilled it all. He doesn't seem to have much remorse though and he's not spilling it all to make himself look good. "I hope she's caught in the explosion"... yeah, that is a completely normal feeling and she brought it on herself.

This whole song? I've lived every single line. It means so much to me much like all of Brand New's songs. The first line is what drew me in to this song alone with the powerful music behind it.

People look too much into what is really going on with the bands. Who knows... they may be best friends now, but Jesse can still use his pain and experience to write beautiful music whether he is over it or not to this day. I think it is wonderful.

General Comment:I'm agreeing that the TBS fued is broughten up way too much. I'm also thinking that Adam(TBS) doesn't write his lyrics, that it was another band member (john Nolan) that slept with Jesse's gf. Anyways, "go tell him how my wrist is sore, from pulling at your insides all night." (To me) doesn't mean anything dirty, I don't even really see how it could be. He's telling the girl to tell the guy she cheated on him with how he's done a lot for the girl....I'm probably so wrong. idk
