Well I can't regret,
can't you just forget it?
I started something I couldn't finish
And if we go down, we go down together
Best friends means,
well best friends means

And I've got a twenty-dollar bill
that says you're up late night starting
fist fights vs. fences in your backyard
Wearing your black eye like a badge of honor
Soakin' in sympathy
from friends who never loved you
nearly half as much as me

Broken down in bars and bathrooms
All I did was what I had to
Don't believe me when I tell you,
"it's just what anyone would do"
Take the time to talk about it
Think a lot and live without it
Don't believe me when I tell you,
"it's something unforgivable"

Well I can't regret,
can't you just forget it?
I started something I couldn't finish
If we go down, we go down together
Best friends means,
well best friends means

You never knew,
well I never told you...
everything I know about breaking hearts
I learned from you, it's true
I've never done it with the style and grace you have
But I've made long term plans
based on these mistakes

Broken down in bars and bathrooms
All I did was what I had to
Don't believe me when I tell you,
"it's just what anyone would do"
Take the time to talk about it
Think a lot and live without it
Don't believe me when I tell you,
"it's something unforgivable"

Is this what you call tact?
I swear you're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back
So let's end this call,
and end this conversation
There's nothing worse...
(that's right he said, that's right he said it)
I swear, you have no idea
The jealousy that became got me thinking
(that's right he said)
that you always had it way too easy

Broken down in bars and bathrooms
All I did was what I had to
Don't believe me when I tell you,
"it's just what anyone would do"
Take the time to talk about it
Think a lot and live without it
Don't believe me when I tell you,
"it's something unforgivable"

Best friends means I pulled the trigger
Best friends means you get what you deserve
Best friends means I pulled the trigger
Best friends means you get what you deserve
Best friends means I pulled the trigger
Best friends means you get what you deserve
Best friends means I pulled the trigger
Best friends means you get what you deserve
Best friends means I pulled the trigger
Best friends means you get what you deserve

Best friend thinks I pulled the trigger!
Best friend thinks you get what you deserve!

General Comment:I love this song. I'm currently using it as my revenge song. My "best friend" totally fucked me over. I told him to leave and never come back, and he came begging for my forgiveness a few hours later, as I expected. Somewhere during his begging, I decided to get revenge and fuck him over right back. He's a sociopath, so I didn't feel bad. I knew he wasn't really sorry and just wanted to use me again. I admitted what I did to him today, and totally crushed his inflated ego. It's a shame that he's a sociopath and I couldn't really hurt him. He'll just be embarrassed for a bit. It made me feel awesome, though. I'm a great actor.

Song Meaning:I think it's about ruining his relationship with his best friend to save him from his self. Like taking pills away from an addict or something like that.

General Comment:Does anyone else hear "you're just as subtle as your girl on the small of my back" around 2:24? I swear I hear it but I can't find that lyric anywhere.

General Comment:Love the live version of the old line up singing this song this year at one of the shows and at the end adam
lazzara jumps of stage to the crowd while the song is still going on and he gets back on stage at the end of
the end of the song and hugs john nolan and mark the dummer hugs him too. This song has so much background
and the atmosphere that revolves every time i listen to it. it just hits me every time. This song is the
true best friend relationship song ever. Tbs new album comes out spring 2011. so excited

My Opinion:I absolutely love the history behind this song. The whole thing with Jesse Lacey and the cheating and everything. You can tell that John feels bad though, because in between all the screaming and everything, it seems like he misses Jesse.

Love this song and Seventy Times 7 both.

General Comment:alright, since there's 11 pages, i'm just going to ask.

does anybody know what adam's saying during this part?:

"Is this what you call tact?
I swear you're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back
    So let's end this call,
    and end this conversation
    There's nothing worse..."

General Comment:The "you're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back" thing came from Jesse, but he probably got that from the Morrissey Song "I Am Hated For Loving" which has the lyrics 'anonymous call, a poison pen/a brick in the small of the back again.' And then this TBS song has the lyrics 'I started something i couldn't finsih' which is from a Smiths song. Just some interesting Morrissey trivia there ;)

General Comment:Jesse Lacey, the lead singer from Brand New, and John Nolan, the former guitarist for TBS, were really good friends. Jesse's girlfriend cheated on him with John. While they were fighting Jesse said "You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back so let's end this call and end this conversation." So when John heard that on Seventy Times Seven he wrote this song.

I might be an apology(I like to think so) but most people think it was kinda an "f you" to Jesse.
