Lyrics for How You Remind Me as interpreted by lemonie_fresh

How You Remind Me Lyrics
Never made it as a wise man
I couldn't cut it as a poor man stealin'
Tired of livin' like a blind man
I'm sick of sight without a sense of feelin
And this is how you remind me
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breakin'
I've been wrong, I've been down
Been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head
Scream "Are we having fun yet?"
Yet?, Yet?, Yet?, no no

It's not like you didn't know that
I said I love you and I swear I still do
It must have been so bad
Cause livin' with me must have damn near killed you

This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breakin'
I've been wrong, I've been down
Been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head
Scream "Are we having fun yet?"
Yet?, Yet?, Yet?, no no

Never made is as a wise man
I couldn't cut it as a poor man stealing
And this is how you remind me
This is how you remind me

This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
It's not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breakin'
I've been wrong, I've been down
Been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head
Scream "Are we having fun yet?"
Yet?, Yet?, Yet?, no no

this song is on the popular radio station smack in between your crappy britney spears "im a slave 4 u" and your ja-rule and j-lo. go figure how such a great song can be put next too songs that have no meaning

Well, bymyself123 you arent alone on this one. This is an excellent song that is seemingly overshadowed by meaningless and songs that seem unworthy.

I've had trouble deciphering the meaning of this song since i first heard it. Very catchy tune, but i just have trouble that any guy would be stupid enough to sincerely blame his gf for showing him what an arse he is. Anyone wanna set me straight?

nickelback won't be a one hit wonder, every song on Silver Side Up is just as powerful. anyone who's ever loved someone can definitely relate to "Just for".

This song confused me english teacher! But i think it's about how this guy has made a mistake with his love. The chorus is saying that the love apologised but it's not what they guy wanted. he wanted her to leave and when she apologised he turned her away. that's what i get from the lyrics and the film clip.

Okay, awhile back (before the server switch) I posted my translation of this song - I'll do it again:

He blames himself for not being smart or skilled enough to do the most basic things, like being a thief than cannot steal. The next part about being a blind man and being sick of sight can be translated to mean that he never sees what is going on and what he does see doesn't catch him and he doesn't even notice. The chorus is based on what he feels of his girlfriend; she makes him feel guilty for the way he is - it is his low self opinion that makes him the way he is, she just brings it out. For the 'Not like you...' part he is saying that she isn't the one who apologizes - and she always has excuses. He feels this way because of her and blames her for it, but still feels it is his fault for 'handing her a heart worth breaking.' He admits he has been wrong and feels guilt, and he has 'been to the bottom of every bottle' meaning he has searched to find out why he is the way he is. The five words in his head are based on his feeling of their relationship - a constant question of whether or not he is having fun, if this is what he wants. The next verses come from his feeling of guilt again, but he points out it is her too. When he says 'It's not like you didn't know that' is the same as saying "You know how I feel though" and he does still love her, though she makes him feel the way he does. The guilt part comes into full swing with the next too lines because he claims that he is so terrible and hard to get along with that she must have sacraficed so much to be with him. There is also a hint of sarcasm in the last part as if he is saying it in a mocking way.

That is a summary, close to my original.

Well, that is my two cents - it's value may be different to you because currency various all over the world.

i think this is song is about a guy thanking his g.friend for being there. he's obvouslly having a bad time and is unsure of who he;s trying to be. but when hes with his girl he can be him self. she brings the real him out. acting some one he isnt obviuoslly stresses him, there for ethe lines... "These five words in my head Scream "Are we having fun yet?" Yet?, Yet?, Yet?, no no " and "I've been wrong, I've been down Been to the bottom of every bottle ". the bottle, being alcohol. its a sd, but alao happy song :)

But there's a reason this song is overplayed...as said earlier, it's much more meaningful than your standard Britney shit that's out there...And as for the "One Hit Wonder" crap...just listen to The State and tell me that this band doesn't mean business. My personal interpretation is that he's evaluating his relationship with his woman and realizes that he's worth so much more than she credits him for...BTW this is one of my fave videos...whoever thought of the black n white/color shit is a damned genius.

i think this song means that this dude lost his girl and that made him realize what he really is. and it is not like her to say sorry but try to find another way out of things. and to be with her is worth a heart breaking. and he says he loves her and swears that he does.

I think this song is purposefully abstract to give the listener room to interpret the song and fit it into their own lives. Of course it's about his relationship with his girlfriend...but the way it is written is meant to evoke feeling and fit it into your own personal situation.

Hi there.
Well the song gives alot of room to interpred, that is true.
But i think the following:
He is unhappy in love.
Allthough he knows she is not , or not enough interrested in him he still glorifies her.
"Its not like you to say sorry.."
Is like you dont have to be sorry for me suffering under these circumstances.
"I was waiting on a different story"
Waiting for her to confide in him
"...time i'm mistaken......heart worth breaking"
Is an oxymoron or metaphor for him expressing his bad feeling to be unhappy in love with her.
"This is how you remind me"
Simply means i still love you.

In the end he try's to get away from it all , away from his love and the actual sight of her.
So he says to himself and her "are we having fun yet" in two ways:
One to ask himself "am i better off now?"
two to ask her "was that a good descision?"

Well honestly i think this my ideas of it for they reflect what i am going thru at the moment.
Jep!!!
I am a poor sod.... ;-)

I think this song is about him finally realizing that he is a better person than his girlfriend ever allowed him to be and what she does finally makes him realize that. He handed her a heart she never really cared for and through endless bottles of alcohol he used to drown the pain, he knows he is better off without her.

This guy has had some troubled times & trusted in a girl who let him down yet again!! I reckon it's pretty sarcastic. He's been there & trusted someone one more time & she's let him down again! i think "living with me must have been hell" is not how he feels he's saying he's ok really but feels bitter at letting someone in once again! Anyway a brilliant song & it made me feel a lot better about life.

i think this song is about he was never good enough for her in her mind, from the part in the begining "never made it as a wise man..." and he got his heart broken being with her, "are we having fun yet?" i think he's sarcastically saying "are you having fun hurting me like this?" he said he loved her, and he is sarcastic saying that living with him must have been terrible. i think that "this is is how you remind me of what i really am" means this is how you remind me that i deserve better. i think this is a great song, and even though it is overplayed i'm not sick of it yet. well that is what i think it means, although it could mean a lot of things.

I still love this song and i still think that it is killer. This song has a specail meaning to me. It fits a situation between one of my good friends and her dad. He is a meth-head and so she also became one when she moved in with him. Their house burnt down and she went to rehab and her dad to jail. Now she is out and straight. This song just explains a lot about them.

this song is about a dad getting his daughter started on crystal. he is in jail watching her fall apart the same way he did. the shit reminds them of each other. the first lines describe how he is not good at anyhting except getting geeked up. its not like him to say sorry, to her for turning her into him. he was waitin on a different story, for her to be different than him. and she was waiting on his different story, to finally straighten up and not be the same old shit. living with him damn near killed her. they remind each other by the drugs.

The song's not about a dad & daughter, it's about a guy being bitter about girls but he finally realizes his mistakes. That's wut I get from it, at least. Whatever it is, it's really powerful & emotional. Oh yeah... I AM CANADIAN!!! I actually don't really like Canadian bands much though, I do love this song though.

ya its crammed by Britney Spears and Ja Rule and J Lo, ya Britney SUCKS but there is nuthing wrong with Ja rule and J lo. if you don't like "Im Real Remix" by Ja Rule and J lo then your not welcome @ my school. but still this is my fav song in the whole world. Nickelback knows where the're going and they are going far. they won't stop after a couple hits like this rap stuff thats going on @ my school they know what there doing!
