Lyrics for A Line Allows Progress, a Circle Does No... as interpreted by PLANES

A Line Allows Progress, a Circle Does No... Lyrics
Sitting around, no work today
Try pacing to keep awake
Laying around, no school today
Just drink until the clock has circled all the way
It is late afternoon
As you walk through the rooms
Of a house that is quiet
Except for unanswered telephones
You stand near the sink
While you're mixing a drink
You think you don't want to pass out
Where your roommates will find you again
Stumble around the neighborhood with nothing to do
You're always looking for something
To sniff, smoke, or swallow
Calling over next door to see what they got
But you would settle for anything
That would make your brain slow down or stop
Break this circle of thoughts you chase
Before they catch back up with you
And your parents noticied your thinning face
All the weight you lost
All the weight you are losing
You said, "I'm done feeling like a skeleton
No more sleepwalking dead"
You're going to wake from this coma
You're going to crawl from this bed you have made
And stop counting on that camera
That hangs round your neck
Because it won't ever remember
What you choose to forget
As you try to find some source of light
Try to name one thing you like
You used to have such a longer list
And light, you never had to look for it
But now it's so easy to second guess everything you do
Until all you want is to finish this half empty glass
Before the ice melts away
This feeling always used to pass
But seems like it's every day
Seems like it's every night now

this song is really depressing. it seems to be about drug addiction of a friend who trys as he might can seem to free himself and sober up

conor is brilliant, and so is the title of this song in relation to our lives (metaphorically speaking)

if any song ever could bring you down, this would be it. It shows the urgent hopelessness that so many kids can feel.

Am I the only one who thinks a lot of the music is amphigory? As in, Shakespere?

Good yes, one of my favorite artists, but the fact remains....

I love this part of the song because its saying how his depression used to be every once and a while and and now it doesnt ever go away and how its making everything different.

*as you try to find some source of light
try to name one thing you like
you used to have such a longer list
and light you never had to look for it
but now it's so easy to second guess everything you do
until all you want is to finish this half empty glass

It is amazing, I cannot get enough of his music. he is an absolute genius. These songs are so deep, but understandable. I can relate to most of them in many ways. Just like most people, or most people I know.

I love that part. And I completely agree with what RedMarker said about the depression.

the funniest thing about conor is the fact that he writes such great music and amazing lyrics yet laughs at himself for making it all depressing. ah the irony.

great song anyways.

"Omaha's latest talent, Son, Ambulance, has been showing up on various Bright Eyes recordings for quite some time. Joe played on Bright Eyes' 1999 EP 'Every Day and Every Night', and you first heard his voice on the opening track of that EP, where Joe and Conor switched back and forth between lead vocal duties. "

I think it is Tim, on the cover it says "Tim Kasher, backing ghostly vocals". Great song either way.. sometimes, this song makes me cry too.

Conor makes the meaning of the song so clear, and I looooooove him for it. At the same time, I think the idea of addiction and depression can be the same for everyone's life.

For me this is one of the saddest songs BE ever made, and that's saying a lot. Contrary to popular opinion his stuff is very much uplifiting especially lately, but this one is really desperate.
the meaning it's pretty clear and has being covered by others...and yes the title is great.
