Fountains and fluorescent lights.
When season has come
The snowbirds have crowded the nights.
And old townies are tired
Of the beaches and bars
Being packed so tight.
And bridges, and traffic, and inlets,
Are locked in their fight.

And on these boats,
Ride the hopes of working class boys,
Dreaming of girls, from far away points.
And better things. Like winter flings.
And longing after spring has sprung.
And they fly north when winter's done.
And we get burned in summer's sun.

Fountains and fluorescent lights.
When season has come
The snowbirds have crowded the nights.
And young townies and tourists
Find unlikely love at first sight.
And swear that they're never leaving
And that is their plight.

This winter is lasting forever,
At least for tonight.
And I know that you're never leaving,
Until your flight,
Takes you off,
And out of my arms,
And into the air,
So far from your charms,
That I can not bare,
Another year,
In this long forgotten beach town,
We once shared.

This winter is lasting forever,
At least for tonight.
And I know that you're never
Leaving me again.
No, not again.

General Comment:This song always reminds me of this really cute girl I met when I was 14 at Deer lake in Spokane WA over the summer. My parents would take my bro and I out there for a weekend or two. Her name was Isis. She was beautiful. ). I couldnt believe she was into me. Every single dude there wanted her. We were all chillin around the fire on the beach. She was like "oh im tired" and nuged me on her way back to the tent we were all crashing in. Followed her. We made out (was a big deal then). I walked her back to her cabin around at sunrise. We kissed one more time. And that was it.? Im 30 yrs old now and its crazy I still remember her. I think of her when I hear this song. FSF best song period. Anyways. Peace.

General Comment:This is a great song, but i think i have a little different interpretation, let me know what you think. Once again i agree that it's talking about the tourists coming to florida in the winter (the snowbirds) and obviously the townies live there all year round. however, the debate about the girl dying in a plane crash or whatever, i don't think that is what it's about at all. it's chris regretting that his past winters with this girl have just been flings and nothing more, and this time he's not going to let just leave, maybe she'll leave florida, but this time they will have a relationship.. hence she's never leaving him again, "NOT again..."

The "not again" line really gives me the feeling that he regrets letting the girl just leave him the past year, and this time he's going to stay with her. so in my mind, it's a happy song... not sad.
