You could see me reaching,
So why couldnt you have met me halfway
You could see me bleeding
But you could not put pressure on the wound

You only think about yourself.
You only think about yourself.
You'd better bend before I go
On the first train to Mexico

You could see me breathing
But you still kept your hand over my mouth
You could feel me seething
But you just turned your nose up in the air

You only think about yourself.
You only think about yourself
You'd better bend before I go
On the first train to Mexico

You only think about yourself.
You only think about yourself
You'd better bend before I go
On the first train to Mexico

General Comment:Has nobody seen ET? Mexico is the place Elliots dad has ran off to. Mexico is used in this song as a place a lover will run away to and leave his / her partner if they don't change their ways. Not Mexico in the litteral place, more like giving a title to the numb, knull and void place Brandons heart will be led to if his lover doesn't open their eyes. My opinion anyways but i think 2 much :)

General Comment:I listen to this song when I'm frustrated about my roommate. We live in a dormitory, so it's really difficult to get any privacy and it really allows those who room together to see each other's 'true colors', as it were. Well, he leaves me quite frustrated because he is a fairly selfish individual. At the same time, this song reminds me to practice modesty and selflessness, because those on the other end of selfishness just dislike it.

General Comment:i think its about how he is trying to keep a relationship alive and the other person isnt even trying and he wants the person to bend as in show a sign that they care for them. incubus lyrics have so many meanings, brandon boyd musical genius and his looks and voice doesnt hurt a bit. lol the rest of the band is amazing for bring such a different sound of music. no one is like them.

General Comment:i think the meaning of this song is about being in a relationship where you give and get nothing in return.
i can only relate it to a personal experience. I helped a guy to get his life back on track and even though we were in love, I couldn't help but feel stifled.

General Comment:i remember playing this song for my ex a few weeks before i broke up with him. it fit exactly how i felt he was acting. no matter how much i told him what was wrong, he'd pretend everything was ok.

General Comment:No one else saw the NO EXIT allusions in the lyrics?

    "You only think about yourself...
    you only think about yourself
You'd better bend before I go
On the first train to Mexico"

Satre says "Then a day came when you were up against it, the red light of real danger-and you took the train to Mexico"

And not to mention that only thinking of yourself is very existentialist.

and the whole bending is mentioned in the play too, i would argue as more sexual than what is meant in the lyrics. it is not as if the lyrics are meant to only be as an allusion, that wouldnt be giving Brandon very much credit at all.
