Lyrics for Story Of A Lonely Guy as interpreted by ScreamingInfidelity

Story Of A Lonely Guy Lyrics
Push it out, fake a smile
avert disaster just in time
I need a drink, cause in a while
worthless answers from friends of mine
it's dumb to ask, cool to ignore
girls possess me but they're never mine
I made my entrance
avoided hazards
checked my engine I fell behind

Dada dada dada dada da
I fell behind
dada dada dada dada da

She makes me feel like it's raining outside
and when the storms gone I'm all torn up inside
I'm always nervous on days like this like the prom
I get too scared to move cause I'm a fuckin' boy

Remember when I was in
the grocery store, now's my time
lost the words, lost the nerve,
lost the girl, left the line
I would wish upon a star
but that star, it doesn't shine
so read my book, with a boring ending
a short story of a lonely guy

Dada dada dada dada da
who fell behind
dada dada dada dada da

She makes me feel like it's raining outside
and when the storms gone I'm all torn up inside
I'm always nervous on days like this like the prom
I get too scared to move cause I'm a fuckin' boy

Dada dada dada dada da
dada dada dada dada da

She makes me feel like it's raining outside
and when the storms gone I'm all torn up inside
I'm always nervous on days like this like the prom
I get too scared to move cause I'm still
just a stupid, worthless boy

I love this song, i just can't get enough of it. I'm such a loser around girls and this explains it perfectly. Great song, one of their best.

"I would wish upon a star
but that star, it doesn't shine"
Even tho this is a guys perspective, that line just gets me, and I agree w/ jamtheone...the rock show and stftk + first date overshadow some of the better songs on there, even tho they are ALL good

A song that most guys and a small group of girls can relate to. Like "Dogg19" said, I am so horrible when it comes to girls. I usually just freeze up and chicken out. This song really hits home for me and I consider it my life's "theme song". Don't misinterpret me by thinking that I'm feeling sorry for myself - I'm not. I've had my share of successes with girls (currently working on a good relationship with one actually). But this song just hits the nail on the head and hasn't budged from my mind. It will surely be a song that I always remember. I can't wait to hear Blink 182's CD that they will be releasing at the end of 2003.
P.S. If you like Blink 182, listen to Boxcar Racer. That band is a side project of Blink 182's Tom and Travis, and two other guys. It's more like the older, punk kind of Blink 182. I bought the CD today and it's great. I'm listening to it now, as a matter of fact. Again, that's Boxcar Racer.

Thanks.

This song really describes how I've been feeling lately. My girlfriend and I broke up the day before prom and I've been so lonely without her. I could listen to this and "What Went Wrong" all day long.

Like Klemasser this song describes how I've been feeling lately. i just had the fight to end all fights with my best friend and the line "She makes me feel like it's raining outside
and when the storms gone I'm all torn up inside" describes how she makes me feel. its like no matter how much she makes me feel like crap i just can't live without her.
"I would wish upon a star
but that star, it doesn't shine
so read my book, with a boring ending
a short story of a lonely guy" also means alot abot how im feeling right now. my whole life i was nothing that is until some new girl with red curly hair came up to me in the 5th grade and was just like "hi. im carole and im new here wanna be my friend?" and life changed. i love ya carole.and even though you're not reading this i just want you to be my big sis by 8 days again.

i like how they did this song deeper than some of the others on TOYPAJ.. and i love this song. it's awesome. the lyrics really get to me and tom expresses perfectly what it's like to just be lonely..and even though it's in guy's perspective, i can really relate. especially 'i would wish, upon a star, but that star, it doesnt shine'. i can just play this song over and over again..

I do play it over and over again. Its one of Blink's deeper songs, and it makes me like them even more then I did before. What Went Wrong is another great song. As long as Blink keeps writing good songs like this they'll stay my favorite band.

I personally think this is Blink's very best song. I'm surprised it's not like Konstantine by SoCo with about 700 posts. I don't know, I just think this song is so well-written and easy to relate to and just, I dunno, amazing.
I only wish it was called Story of a Lonely Girl coz then it'd probably mean more to me. I hate how all songs I relate to well always say their to a girl coz, well, I like guys.

I also don't think Blink sold out...they just got really successful and got a lot more fans, therefore more money and more popularity and thats why they're everywhere. They're still the same band they've always been.

This song is so deep, i started going out with my ex-gf the day after prom, she just dumped me; claims she needs to be alone right now... anyways i've tried to get over her, but if i try to talk to another girl i get flustered and end up thinking about my ex... i didn't realize how much i cared for her until i couldn't be with her anymore..

I can relate to every word of this song. Its like when you tell yourself, im gonna talk to girls, im gonna go out of my way to talk to them, then you freeze up and dont have anything to say. Thats how I feel.

this is one of the few good songs on TOYPAJ. as a whole enema of the state kicks its ass. it's also one of the few blink songs that contains any sort of depth, which is what I especially like. it shows blink's only redeeming quality: kids relate to their songs. musically I like green day and weezer a good deal better than blink, but I have to say I like this song a lot.
as for the girls thing, I can sympathize with each of you guys who have tried to talk to girls. I used to be just like that and now I have all kinds of female friends. I wish I could tell you that there's one secret to get all the women you want, but.....there isn't. you just have to go up and talk to her, and be yourself. that's all I can really tell. she will get a much better impression of you if you at least work up the balls to talk to her than if you just stand there fidgeting.
all the girls who come here, do you have anything to add? I want to help all the guys here who can't get girls, cuz I know what a terrible feeling it is.

How is this song genius?

"I need a drink, cause in a while
worthless answers from friends of mine"

How does that make sense whatsoever to the rest of the song, or even that line?

"Remember when I was in
the grocery store, now's my time"

And the grocery store has something to do with losing a girlfriend?

Genius? Please, you must be kidding.
