Lyrics for Anthem, Pt. 2 as interpreted by ScreamingInfidelity

Anthem, Pt. 2 Lyrics
Everything has fallen to pieces,
Earth is dying help me Jesus
We need guidance, we've been misled,
young and hostile, but not stupid.

Corporate leaders, politicians,
kids can't vote, adults elect them
laws that rule the school and workplace,
signs that caution, sixteen's unsafe.

We really need to see this through,
we never wanted to be abused
We'll never give up, it's no use,
if we're fucked up you're to blame

Let this train wreck burn more slowly,
kids are victims in this story
Drown our youth with usless warnings,
teenage rules they're fucked and boring

We really need to see this through,
we never wanted to be abused
We'll never give up, it's no use,
if we're fucked up you're to blame

Everything has fallen to pieces,
Everything has fallen to pieces,
Everything has fallen to pieces,
Everything has fallen to pieces,
Everything has fallen to ...

We really need to see this through,
we never wanted to be abused,
We'll never give up, it's no use,
if we're fucked up you're to blame!

this song is so true!!!! the governemt sucks ass and kids like me in this generation are supposed to fix it. cuz were the "kids of the future". im not blaming our parents for this but they didnt help. i say we should get a kid president in the office!!! i really think we could do some good. we might not be old enough to "know anything" but these days were making better choices than most adults!!!

I don't think Blink is blaming our parents, so much as they;re blaming society as a whole. Everybody who blames being fucked up because of their parents is a dumbass, I'd like to see how fucked up you'd be if you didn't have parents.

ITS NOT ABOUT HOW HOW ITS OUR PARENTS FAULT WE ARE MESSED UP.

that would be really too obvious. its kinda in a metaphor

its saying that its not our fault we're messed up bc we are a different generation and they cant expect us to act just like they did when they were kids, every genration is different then the next
they're saying we should get a say in rules and stuff too
not that its all our parent fault, that would be kinda retarded if it was

I believe that this song is pointing out how hypocritical the world has become, from a teens point of view. The world is supposed to be a place where everyone can come together and be equal in the view of others. I believe that the song is about someone who finally decided to take a stand against the standards of society. You hear adults always talking down of teenagers, well this song is standing up and saying no your wrong we may be "young and hostile" but were not as stupid as you think we are.

The verse:
Corporate leaders, politicians,
kids can't vote, adults elect them
laws that rule the school and workplace,
signs that caution, sixteen's unsafe.

to me carries the most weight in the song. it shows how kids have no say in what governs their lives, and the fact that they have lost control over their own standards and lives is what makes " sixteen unsafe".

To me, it sounds like they're trying to say everybody that makes these rules e.g. politicians etc. are trying to make the world 'better' for kids, but really they're just making our lives "fucked and boring", cause they won't let us do anything we get kicks out of.

I also agree with Lxinsomniacxp when he says about kids and teenagers always being talked down to and not shown respect and how we can't choose how our lives are being governed. Maybe we're only "young and hostile" because we're being treated like that?

Basically, the line "if we're fucked up, you're to blame" says it all. To me it also means, the only good thing about this god damn rules is that we can turn out fucked up, and blame everybody else. :)

"If we're fucked up your to blame"
Its about how parents are to blame for every teen's mistakes, every little thing that fucks up, its all about how kids are raised will effect the way they act. If a kid fucks up, if they're a stoner, if they drink, if they do drugs, if they're cynical and twisted, its all the parent's fault.
*Sigh* when will adults see us teens aren't complete shit for brains? -.-;

the meaning of this song is how much alot of the parents in the world fuck up so much and how kids almost have no effect in the world when we know it best adults are stuck in the time when they were kids

Ironic in that aldults try to better the world they saw when they were kids, instead of bettering the world us kids see (Ie. the current, modern world)
