Lyrics for Anthem, Pt. 2 as interpreted by ScreamingInfidelity

Anthem, Pt. 2 Lyrics
Everything has fallen to pieces,
Earth is dying help me Jesus
We need guidance, we've been misled,
young and hostile, but not stupid.

Corporate leaders, politicians,
kids can't vote, adults elect them
laws that rule the school and workplace,
signs that caution, sixteen's unsafe.

We really need to see this through,
we never wanted to be abused
We'll never give up, it's no use,
if we're fucked up you're to blame

Let this train wreck burn more slowly,
kids are victims in this story
Drown our youth with usless warnings,
teenage rules they're fucked and boring

We really need to see this through,
we never wanted to be abused
We'll never give up, it's no use,
if we're fucked up you're to blame

Everything has fallen to pieces,
Everything has fallen to pieces,
Everything has fallen to pieces,
Everything has fallen to pieces,
Everything has fallen to ...

We really need to see this through,
we never wanted to be abused,
We'll never give up, it's no use,
if we're fucked up you're to blame!

i think this song is pretty much reversing the phrase "respect your elders" and changin it to "respects your youth" i mean, when was the last time any of us had any real respect from adults?why can they talk back to us, but we cant talk back to them? why can they yell at us, but we cant yell at them? how come when they do something wrong its no big deal but if we screw something up we are in huge trouble? something to think about

Well i have nothin 2 blame my parents cuz all they've done is help me thru my many mental illnessess, ig. terets, add, ocd, general anxiety disorder, and clinical depression. But really i think it's talking about the corruption in the youth of today and we can only attribute this to society in general

it means, everyhing we do in life theres always someone telling you how or if you can do it, how we dont make our decisions and it pushes us away cuz we dont like the decisions our parents, politicans, teacher, etc make and we rebel and do stupid things thats what the song means to me. blink is my fav band and this song is bada**

this song is awesome!!! i agree with wendyclear, but a little different, like, if your parents divorced or something, its going to make you mad, and that is what adults think is "fucked up". or if your friend died in a car accident, then your gonna be sad, and angry, and "fucked up" for a while. and adults are making the rules that we have to live by, and they dont know whats happening, like they might think that, oh they'll get over it eventually, but some people dont! so if were fucked up, YOURE to blame!!!!!!!!

Really cool song. I think it fits in really well to the other "Anthem" song. Both are pretty much about teens fighting the system. Thanks,

b

isn't "we'll never give up, it's no use" one of the best contradictions in the world? i love that line.

this song is an awesome song and i dont think its so much blaming the parents as it is the corrupt system of modern day society. teens are exposed to sex, drugs, violence and all that shit in the media so early on and,we're just tryin to figure out who we are and which path we are gonna take in life,Parents arent perfect, but sumtimes they could pay a little mor attention,u'd think if they're life was so "hard" when they were younger at they put it, they would try to be a little more involved in our lives..and by the way societies visions are a load of bull! our generation and the ones to come need to change that!

and i also agree with nfg rocks 4ever, my own parents are ALWAYS accusing me of being lippy and having it so easy, but everyone has their own battles inside and it would help if we were a little more respected and if they actually pretended to consider our thoughts and feelings every so often

My favourite song ever. Blink-182 needs to do more songs like this, then again, they can do whatever they want. Tom (who wrote the lyrics) said he was proud of this song and that it was about how things in the world had been screwed up by the adults in charge and how this was having effects on younger generations who were falling in the same traps. If the people in power weren't such fucking idiots then they'd give kids way more freedom and let them help them solve problems so that the world wouldn't dig itself into much deeper shit. Kids/teens deserve much more than they get.

this is my favourite blink song and i can play the start on the geetar! :D
It means that the world today is really messed up and that kids are how they are today because of the adults in the society.

Hey! this song is REALLY cool! I love it, one of the bests of the album... Most of what is said up there is right... this song is about how the adults judge us and blame us for our faults when they put the rules, they tell us what school we should attend, what we should believe in... so if there is something wrong with us they're the ones to blame!

everyone is selfish and it's one of those slippery-slope circles. adults think that what worked for them will work for us. margeret mitchell said that ppl differ by every other generation. our parents were brought up in this society that was so rigid that they couldn't move. now they think that it worked for them and we can see that it really didn't. by improving a teenager, you improve an adult because they learn that things can't always go their way; they've just been tricked into thinking that because they are adults, they always get that last word.

yo people i totaly agree with lots of yous expically wendyclear and invinceable and riverwolf and losta other people. On the other hand themikis i agree with you up to the piont about age, it sdon't matter it just proves that they no what's going on and they aint dumb and ignorant!it isn't always age which makes you a teenager or 'referd to as one who is different and souldn't be heard and sees everything black and white'so on.i totaly agree with the whole were being fucked up and not seen to,and are parents arent always to blame.Sure it pisses me off so fucking much they way all alot of them to is criticise themselfs.but that as all ignorant people will do.so who is to blame,is STUPID people in power not having a fucking clue what they do nor do they care.STUPID parents-which not all are,STUPID laws and government made for themselves.people living for tomorrow for themselves for money greed and hatred. It makes no sence it's really the world and the people that are messed up along with their stupid government and laws(the stupid ones)

i think this song is about a loss of hope for kids how everyone is to blame, how sometimes kids have no rights. "Corporate leaders politicions kids cant vote adults elect them" i love this song, it is a great starter to TOUPAJ.
