Lyrics for Apple Shampoo as interpreted by ScreamingInfidelity

Apple Shampoo Lyrics
She didn't mean to deceive you, believe me
But sometimes the hardest part is conceiving

The good intentions that you had
Now only came to this
And although she saw the mark
The arrow missed

It isn't exciting reciting the stories
Of kind words turned hurting when routine get boring

Both getting tired of punk rock clubs
And both playing in punk rock bands
The start was something good
But some good things must end

And she said, "It could never survive
With such differing lives
One home, one out on tour again

We may never come back
The strike of a match
The candle's buring at both ends."

And now she knows too much
And I'm too fucked up
It's awkward trying to make my move

I'll pretend that I'm fine
Show up right on time
But I know I'll never be that cool

I never wanted to hold you back
I just wanted to hold on
But my chance is gone

I know / just where / I stand / a boy
Trapped in the body of a man and

I'll take what you're willing to give
And I'll teach myself to live
With a walk-on part of a background shot
From a movie I'm not in

She's so important
And I'm so retarded

And now I realize
I should have kissed you in L.A.
But I drove home all alone
As if I had a choice, anyway

Where are you coming from?
What are you running from?
Is it so hard to see?

And if you're feeling scared
Remember the time we shared
You know it meant everything (everything)
You know that it meant everything to me

You know that it meant everything to

I just randomly decided to listen to this song on youtube after many years... surprise surprise, it's still good! I used to ADORE Blink 182 like, 8 years ago (RE: my thousands of old posts on blink 182 lyrics). I agree with what someone else said, it definately was a mature song for them at the time. It's a fun song

It's amazing how many people think apple shampoo is the smell of her hair.. The only reason the song is named apple shampoo is because apple shampoo is deceiving In the sense that you want to eat it instead of wash with it.

"She didn't mean to deceive you, believe me
But sometimes the hardest part is conceiving"

The rest of the song is about a misunderstanding gone bad that ruins a relationship because too many hurtful things were said.
"It isn't exciting reciting the stories
Of kind words turned hurting when routine get boring"

The knowledge they had before about their differing lives was never considered because they loved each other so much.

"And she said, "It could never survive
With such differing lives
One home, one out on tour again

We may never come back
The strike of a match
The candle's buring at both ends.""

He realized he fucked up and just wants what they had before.

"And now I realize
I should have kissed you in L.A.
But I drove home all alone
As if I had a choice, anyway

And if you're feeling scared
Remember the time we shared
You know it meant everything (everything)
You know that it meant everything to me"

this song
well it's just amazing to be honest
it just conveys the feelings of a break up so well
i think everyone can relate to it at some stage
whether it's just the feeling of unimportance
or the not wanting to let go
everyone feels it

i love the way it's named after the smell of her hair
it's so sentimental
the little things that mean so much to one person

this song gets me everytime

This is one song that is VERY hard to get sick of. Can just play it over and over... Definitely about the smell of some chick's hair.

i have been listening to this song for yeeeaaarrrsss and i simply can't get sick of it! You'd have to agree that it was a pretty deep song for them at this point in their career! I just love depressing songs, lol, and this is one of the most depressing i've ever come across! This really does show blink is capable of awesome lyrics, even if a three year old could play their songs on guitar!

This song was written about one of the girls Mark had a crush on.
She always used Apple Shampoo and her hair always smelled like it.

I think I understand this song completely, mainly because I'm going through similar endeavours, only on different circumstances. I think it's about Mark breaking and his girlfriend at the time breaking up due to the distance they have between touring. They didn't lose any feelings for each other, and it wasn't a break up in the sense that they didn't want to be together, it just wasn't fair or working due to everything Mark was doing with Blink 182, and it erupted tension and waiting and stress. But since they still loved each other, Mark is contemplating trying to get her back, but it seems as if she doesn't think it would work. He feels really horrible about it, but is reminding her of the pure love they had, and telling her to remember it whenever she doubts it. And he's finding it odd how he used to be the biggest person in her life, and now he wouldn't even be considered a slight part involved. It's basically the after-effects of a break up that Mark doesn't believe should have happened.

Rockin song, back in the day blink-182 were putting out tons of good tracks (for me they've gotten worse, that's just my view though)

this song was Mark's favourite for a while and it was very persoanl to him cuz there was this one chick who he really liked but he never got her. Oh well, Mark is now married and has kids.

I think Blink 182 did change in a natural way, they simply grew up. Slightly off topic, but they always discussed growing up and how they seemed to kind of accept it ("Well I guess this is growing up"). To me blink 182 simply grew up, followed along the same lines, and began to sound slightly softer and better produced (i.e jerry finn :), and began to change the way any things changes. But yeh, their topics generally are all along the same lines, yet their newer shit definetly are more matrue, or just from another perspective.
To me though, Apple Shampoo is really about how things seemed to be alright with a girl and soon enough the common drama happens Life began to seem like he couldnt go back and make up for his mistakes. Possibly first with a girl and then just getting bored of the same people and routines.
Hopefully this makes sense, im rather blazed/tired, im feel it though yo, i think blink 182s old sutff was their purest and best work, but they were all around a solid band, even though they did kinda sell out. (What the fuck is Travis Barker and his "bad ass" image doing on an MTV reality show?!)

This is in my top ten blink songs.....its really underrated its was hardly played live and it isn't talked about that much...Dude Ranch has really been over shadowed by the later albums...its a real shame considering dude ranch shows blink with the most amount of energy in the sence that the songs are more powerful and less studioized....dodn't get me wrong I like the Enema and TOYPAJ but they are far to studioized compared to Dude Ranch.....Apple Shampoo doesn't have a chorus the song is different in a good way and thats why I ove it so much...I believe the song is about a girl Mark knew who he perhaps liked and her hair smelt like Apple Shampoo...whether this is true or not I do not know but its a damn good song that shoud have been put on the greatest hits,
After Scott left the band the rest of the band have in away left the early songs from Buddha, Cheshire Cat and Dude Ranch in the past which is a shame because many people don't understand how brilliant blink 182 where...the early stuff is 10000000000000 times better then the new album which I have barly listened to,
Apple Shampoo is one of the best tracks of Dude Ranch and its one of the best blink 182 songs ever written,

i've been listening to this song a lot over the last few weeks (since a really close friend of mine kinda said she'd rather our relationship go much further than being friends) because i feel (and she does too) that this song more or less fits what happened between us.
