I really like this, it's one of my favourites from Dude Ranch. It's kinda more serious than the title suggests. Kind of about boredom. This pretty much described my life when I was fourteen.

yeah...I never complained about being punished, because I knew that I would get my way in a day or two anyway...but this song perfectly describes one of my friends. his mom does ground him all the time, his dad's been trashed quite a few times (I've seen him trashed once) and beats his ass. I sent this somg to him a few weeks ago and he called me up, crying, saying how much he can relate to that song.

I absolutely love this song. Everyone has pretty much gotten the main idea, but I think something is missing from all of your descriptions. This song also deals with boredom. "Yeah, I got drunk and I got caught. Atleast it's a little exciting."

"Nothing to do" except get drunk :)

speaking of parents, my mom wouldn't let me buy Dude Ranch after seeing this song name in the tracklist.

i bought it later on when i was by myself and i don't regret doing so because this was one of the first albums that cemented my love for music.

This song is about being a kid and doing something stupid and then coming home and blaming it on you're friend. Tom wrote this about when he was in high school, he got drunk at a basketball game. And "Caity-" is right

Originally this song didn't actually have a title.
When they were recording it though, Mark was stoked on the term "Dick Lips" and was calling everyone it during the recording session.
And when their producer asked Tom(he wrote the song) what the title was Tom didn't have an answer. So Mark said Dick Lips. Tom loved it. They were originally going to come up with a better name once the record actually came out but they ended up liking and keeping it.

This song is excellent, go blink. i hope they produce more stuff like this (though that's their call and not mine) and that Box Car will do more good stuff and Tom's new band will be cool

this song is about when tom got expelled from high school for a year for drinkin at a basketball game (ironically tom was voted home coming king as a way of pissing off the faculty who hated his ass). apart from being about tom's personal experience, this song relates to how people do foolish things which they often regret and hope that they don't get in too much shit for and want others to have sympathy on them

I used to think this was just an average song off of Dude Ranch. Not any more. When I saw them play live, this song rocked. No heavy guitars, no deep(ish) lyrics like the new album, just great meaningless immature fun. Everything I love about punk.
