Lyrics for Carousel as interpreted by ScreamingInfidelity

Carousel Lyrics
I talk to you every now and then
I never felt so alone again
I stop to think at a wishing well
My thoughts send me on a carousel
Here I am standing on my own
Not a motion from the telephone
I know not a reason why
Solitudes a reason to die

Just you wait and see
As school life is a
It is a woken dream
Aren't you feeling alone?

I guess its just another
I guess its just another
I guess its just another night alone

Now as I walk down the street
I need a job just to sleep in sheets
Buying food every once in a while
But not enough to purchase a smile

A tank of gas is a treasure to me
I know now that nothing is free
I talk to you every now and then
I never felt so alone again

Just you wait and see
As school life is a
It is a woken dream
Aren't you feeling alone?

I guess its just another
I guess its just another
I guess its just another night alone

Man they have so many songs, but this is possibly the best. All parts of my life it has had different meaning to me. Like when I was younger I concentrated more on the lonely part, cuz i had dealt with that, but after growing up and moving on my own it had even more meaning to me, trying to make it all alone and how looking back on your past and the relationships you have lost since highschool and trying to pay bills and living off ramen noodles. This song is amazing! Love it... They played it as one of their encores this past 09 tour and it was still amazing even ho tom replaced a few words with 'your mom' its fine, hes aloud to. <3

this songs about isolation from people, say a girl you were with and you talk to her now and then. lyrics make sense if you know what solitude means.

i relate to it, im in a cover band and i love playing this song. its uh one of those fuckin feelings you cant explain.

The guitar rifs on Cheshire Cat are on another planet! Anyone who saw them live in the early days knows that Tom even had difficulty playing them. This band meant so much to me when I was 16. It was hard to see them progress into a band that I couldn't relate to anymore. Even Dude Ranch was the beginning of the end.

I know this wouldn't be the 'official' meaning but this song reminds me of being a university/college student. You're low on money from not having a too flash job & paying fees, and you're always alone because you need to study and do assignments.

Great song, too bad not that many people know about it. People love the sellout songs like All The Small Things and First Date, and I'm Lost Without You.

I like the song and I have nothing to add analysis-wise. I just thought I'd say how funny it is there are posts are recent as late 2006 still debating about whether or not blink-182 is punk. :D It's like, who cares anymore? But I guess even though we all get older there there'll always be that 13-year-old willing to fight to the death to preserve blink-182's punk status.

I think the posts dating all the way back to 2002 for are great posterity and it's fun to wonder where these people are now five years later, their accounts on this website probably long since abandoned. These are probably the kids that I go to college with now.

Eh sounds like being dumped by someone who cared for you and realizing you have no life skills.
Its not my analysis of the song but it just relates to that for me.

learning lifes lessons the hard way "A tank of gas is a treasure to me
I know now that nothing is free"

Talking about how loneliness sends u on a vicious cycle of driving urself crazy thinking the same things over n over again is what the first verse is about, the carousel being a metaphore as the same thing goes round on a carousel, so do the thoughts in his head

And you spent alot of time thinking about that? A time well spent. A dream is associated with something good, so a woken dream would be something good happening in real life. In this song the phrase refers to life in high scholl compared to life after high school. In high school we tend to think that life sucks and we can't wait for the real deal to begin, but when it does, it struck us in the head. The phrase actually sums up the entire song.

At first I didn't know what they meant by woken dream, but after alot of thought I think I know exactly what it means. You know when your having an amazing dream, but then some thing wakes you, maybe your alarm clock. And no matter how hard you try, you can't go back to sleep and you know that dream is lost. Blink is associating the way things were at school to that dream that we will never be able to go back to. This is my favorite song of all time.

this song is about the not getting anywhere with life. the carousel is symbolic for how he isnt doing anwhere productive, but rather going around and around the circle that is his life. lines like a tank of gas is a treasure to me back this up

"once you become popular you make more money and therefore sellout"

What a fucking idiot. God I hate people like you. When are you cynical bastards gonna get it through your heads that making money is not selling out? You say getting popular is selling out? So more people taking interest in Blink 182s music means the band have sold out does it? As time went on they got more and more fans as their music expanded, and because it appealed to more people, they started selling more records, hense more money. That's not selling out you moron, that's doing well. I fucking hate these cunts that sit around calling any band sell out when they have more than 10,000 fans or whatever.

You need to actually think of how logically incorrect your statement is. And then if you still have thoughts as stupid as that, stab yourself in the face.
