I have climbed the highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you

I have run I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you
But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for
But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for

I have kissed honey lips
Felt the healing in the fingertips
It burned like fire
This burning desire
I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was one empty night
I was cold as a stone
But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for
But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for

I believe when the Kingdom comes
Then all the colors will bleed into one
Bleed into one
But yes I'm still running.
You broke the bonds
You loosened the chains
You carried the cross
Of my shame
Of my shame
You know I believed it
But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for
But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for

But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for
But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for

General Comment:I don't know if anyone saw a short video condemning U2, saying they sold their souls for rock n' roll. It sites many lines from their songs, to try to show they are satanic. After that, they quoted Bono as saying "I lie all the time. I only always tell the truth in my songs." They didn't really realize that if that quote is true, than that quote could be a lie, if Bono only always tells the truth in his songs. He clearly said, "I lie all the time." U2 have always been a source of spiritual music for me.

Song Meaning:What Bono's trying to say, how i look at it, on top of a few opinions above, is that he still hasn't found true happiness in life, which of course does not only apply to him, but a sh*tload of people throughout the world. be it found in god, in a specific partner, or something else - whatever it is, a lot of people are still searching for that special someone or something.

Song Meaning:He has tried new and totally different things in the relationship to make it work, but its not.
He has feeled things he liked/that were good, but its not enough...he hasn't found what his heart truly desires/wants.

    Wanting something more...

General Comment:In Bono’s song, he describes the journey that we humans are on in our quest to find God. Bono realizes that all the earthly desires including the love of another human can never completely fulfill him. All the good and evil pleasures in this world are earthbound and will never fulfill what our spirits desire. Fortunately, God has shown grace on us and as Bono recognizes in his song, God broke the bonds that tie us to this world by his son Jesus Christ who carried the cross of all our shame and released us from that bondage. Those of us who have accepted this gift of grace from God carry His Holy Spirit within us. We are still human though and will not be complete in His image in this world but through our faith will strive to be like Him. We still have not found what we are looking for, and our spirits will not be completely fulfilled until we are in His presence.

General Comment:Catholics and Protestants were killing each other. They believed in Jesus Christ. In an attempt to stop the killings, in "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" U2 says that Jesus Christ is not the ultimate answer. So both Christian sides are ashamed of themselves and stop the fight for religion. Now they fight only for territory and, with the tendency in Europe to unite more than separate, actions and damages are diminished. But people may be getting lost in the individual level because of the faith losing.

General Comment:This song is about having a beautiful relationship with somebody, putting all your energy into it and convincing yourself that it completes you, only to realise after time that you're still searching for something more. In Bono's case he might be referring to religion but the perfect thing about this song is that it can apply to anything. We've all been there, we've all had relationships where we convince ourselves that we've found everything in this person. Over time though, as the dust settles we realise that while we still love them, there is still something more to life. While you can find happiness in other people, you'll never feel complete if you're not doing what you love.

My Opinion:If you think about what he is saying, it cannot be anything but the most evil song ever written. Why you say? Okay think about it. He claims to have met God, spoken in the tongues of angels, believes the message, but still has not found what he is looking for. What could be worse than that?

"Hey, I've met God, and heard what He has to say, but I still have not found what I'm looking for."

Could there be a worse indictment? I don't think so.

General Comment:Knowing Bono is a Christian, and being a Christian myself, I interpret the lyrics to mean that you cannot achieve a relationship with Christ through human effort - a relationship with Him is purely based on faith. Through all of his efforts, he can't find what he is looking for. He acknowledges that Christ "broke the bond..loosed the chains..carried the cross..and my shame (his sin)" - but as humans we are compelled to try to perform for God, when all he really seeks is a relationship based on faith and trust. It's a beautiful song - he humbly admits that he is a sinner, and that he believes that Christ died for us, but he still battles with his flesh.

General Comment:True faith, bigger than everything that we desire, true love bigger than everything that we need,
in true happiness we cannot touch, in through hate we cannot see, in true this song shall see.FORGIVE.
    This song is about FORGIVING.

    BONO tells us that.
