Maynard is the master of brevity...i feel he's saying if you mention absolutely anything to him, watch his mood change instantly cuz he doesn't want to be fucked with right now...i think it has to do with anger because if you're angry, the slightest thing someone says can make you blow up.

I don't think that's it at all, because this album is so much calmer compared to their other 3 albums

To me this song is saying to just chill, and just talk about something, Maynard (genius) is saying to just let the world pass and sometimes its good to just watch the weather change, watch it all go by.

this song even though its so simple it has so much meaning... i agree with you it gives off a 'chill and take everything in' feeling. Maynard is one of the best (if not the best) song writers out there...i mean that. and TOOL is by far one of the best bands the songs give off the best vibes.

I feel like in this song, he's trying to say step back, and look at the big picture, how beautiful it is, and watch how it can change

i like to think this a lover's brokenhearted plea to their significant other in a time where something will change and directly affect their relationship, like a break-up maybe? or maybe even death is the approaching outcome. i don't know. but their is such emotion in maynard's voice. it makes me hold my breath. *sighs* simply gorgeous.

I think its about mood swings... How just mentioning something can cause the weather of his mood to change...

it's about people changing your opinions when your feeling vulnerable. But It's A masterpiece, the first time I heard it it was amazing, but not that amazing. It wasn't until I closed my eyes for the whole song and really cought on to the melody, the groove and the smooth, beautiful and so peaceful texture. that I realised what a masterpiece it was.

no one ever said i'm gonna kill this and that. that's stupid. who's saying that doesn't know the real thing tool are about. so. yeah.

and that song, whoa, what to say...everything has already been said and the only thing i can do is agree. don't only listen to disposition but also to reflection, because these two songs are one unit.
maybe disposition is about the birth and the childhood of a person, you know, very calm, relaxing and just smoothing, no difficult things at all.
reflection is the life, the adult life, first because it's much longer than disposition. also the music is heavier and rising to a kind of raging state. at the end the person is realizing that life is a huge reflection, maybe a repetition, but until the end of his life, he wants to reach a bit (before i hide away => before i die?) to change that reflection because it should become a bit better than the ones before.
life is getting harder and harder but in the end it's worth nothing. is it that!? i don't know.
it all ends with the death. calm and relaxing as the birth. that's the reason why you can repeat these two songs over and over again.
i love it. it's amazing.

watch the weather change. mention this to me. i.e. even a banal talk about the weather is preferable to the silence between two people, as the weather changes around them (life goes on).

mention anything. just start ANY form of communication. this song to me is more about conveying a mood, that of two people cut off from each other as their lives and the world continues.

ties in with the theme of communication on Schism - 'cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion'.

Yo holyzarquon, if you ever listened to Tool's first album in the song Jerk-off the final line is "Shoot you in your fucking head." so don't say that it's stupid

To me, this song means that the writer is talking to someone around whom his life is centered. One word changes his whole outlook. In a much more literal sense, one word changes his mood, which then, literally changes the weather, because we all know Maynard is God.

Alright, if you think about it..He's waiting for a girl to say it's over or if it's not. He says Mention this to me and
Mention something, mention anything. Mention this to me, Watch the weather. Watch the weather change. He's talking about whatever he does will depend on what she says, and either way it will be a big change.

This opening melody of this is probably the most beautiful and greatest melody I have ever heard in my life. Even just hearing it makes me break down in to tears, even if it's just music. I feel rather feminate saying that, but I'm trying to be honest.

The opener has so much power and sadness I have trouble listening to it because I'm afraid I may cry. The lyrics are simple, yet his voice is amazing...

What do I think this song about? Well, let me break it down (like I do every song)

OK, "Reflection" and "Disposition" go straight together. "Reflection" seems to be someone of a higher class or growing to another dimension of maturity as someone said I believe.

"Mention this me
Mention something
Mention anything
Watch the weather change."

As a child, when you tell the child things and act a way around him, he will gains those traits. Like, you know that theory where if you play a certain type of a music around a newborn that he'll like that music when he grows up? It could be like that. You mention something to a child and act a certain way as he gains those traits and eventually grows up with those traits.

"Watch the weather change" could me when you mention something to the child, he'll be affected by it someone, so he's telling his parents "Watch the weather change".

"Reflection" could be about the older person, growing up and confused. As someone said up there (I forgot who it was), "Before I pine away" could be before he dies.

"I have come curiously close to the end, down
Beneath my self-indulgent pitiful hole, defeated I
Concede and (Concede and) move closer (Move closer), I may find comfort here
I may find peace within the emptiness, how pitiful

It's calling me (Calling me)
It's calling me (Calling me)
It's calling me (Calling me)
It's calling me"

From "Reflection", this could be someone waiting for his death, as death calls him. "I have come curiously close to end" seems to give that away, "I may find peace within emptiness" also.

"It's source is bright and endless, she resuscitates the hopeless
Without her we are lifeless satellites dreamin' dreams
And as I pull my head out, I am without one doubt, don't want to be down here soothing my narcissism, I
Must crucify the ego before it's far too late, I pray the light lifts me out"

Same as the other one. He's just waiting to die.

The rest of the song seems to have that same meaning to, ending off in "Before we pine away."

I do believe I could be overthinking the whole thing, and "Dispositon" could just be the obvious answer. I'm just trying to connect "Reflection" and "Disposition".

I may be wrong, but the conclusion stands: "Disposition" is a BEAUTIFUL song, the most beautiful melodies of all time in my opinion. The opening melody makes me melt.

Watch the waether change = Watch our relationship evolve into something strong and beautiful, as a unity, sine being an unity seems to be a strong theme trought the album. Also the "mention this to me" could just be "tell me "I love you". With such a beautiful melody, I can't think of anything else than love for the theme. Such as strong, powerful, beautiful, passionate, deep melody can only be related to love.

perhaps the weather already changed for the person he's talking to and he's saying "tell me about it, and you'll feel better"...you know, like when you are in a real shit mood and you tell a friend about everythign that's wrong, and you feel better. mention it to me and i'll help you change your mood for the better...or perhaps its like in a relationship when the mood shifts...things dont feel as right or perfect as before, and he's saying we gotta start talking about things, whatever has changed we gotta talk so we can change it back, or change again to make it better...
