Gently, my mind escapes
Into the relaxing world of pleasure
A pleasure that'll take my mind
Off the reality of my life
My past life, life as I know it now

And whatever may come
It slowly disappears
To somewhere in the back of my mind
It will remain there until I wish to retrieve it

Yes, I will stay here for a while
For I need the break, a break from the pressures of life
When everything that lays in the palm of life's hands
Life's hands

This moment's incredible, it's out of this world
Too bad, I must always leave it
That's life, that's life, that's life, that's life
Yes yes yes yes oh, yes

General Comment:Ok, if you guys want to hear something REALY interesting, find a recording of the pre mfkr bassement sessions.
You hear them make this song from scratch!! Its split into two parts from two sessions. The first one goes on for 20 mins as they get the riff going (as far as I know, this is the earlyes recording of the band, possibly one of the first times they have played together),and the second one (12 mins) they do the vocals.
For a big slipknot fan, its facinating music.

General Comment:It's about escaping the pressures of life, to be free, but soon realizing it's not worth it, and is a demotion to himself, eventually taking him down to zero, upon returning, he is back to the pressure, he may not be able to cope, but soon realizes there is no easy way out in life, everything is complex in this life, and nothing can be done for him

General Comment:This is my favourite Slipknot song of MFKR.
I love the guitar part around 58sec. Dont ask why.
This, personally, to me, is the greatest lyrical effort off MFKR. And one of the best lyrics by Slipknot.
    Period.

General Comment:Corey's voice has a much greater range. he can actually sing, he can scream better, and he has a better way with expressing emotion in his songs, but that doesn't change the fact that the MFKR version is the original, and the original is always the more meaningful. I don't know what this song means to Corey, but as the website mfkr1.com will tell you, the song is about the escape to Umbra. It's not about drugs, and it's an indirect way of expressing the feeling of escaping reality into your own world. We all have our own words we escape to. It's human nature. Without those worlds, we would be lost.

In my opinion, as far as the actual music is concerned, the original is much better. The guitar has more melody, and the lead in harmonic from song 1 (Slipknot) adds to the spirit of the song. although the song has the addition of full-force synth in the Iowa version, the original was much better in composition.

When a band switches members, despite if the new members are better or worse at what they do, the spirit of the band changes. It's inevitable. Even if they can play the old songs the same exact way the old member did, there is no way they could write with the same creativity. And unless the member that is removed or decides to leave is a complete ass the the rest of the band or to his/her fans, the fan-base feels they have lost something when a member is gone. If fame had come to Slipknot before they reformed the band, they may not be nearly as huge as they are today. In my opinion, switching members after MFKR was the best thing they could have done, but there is no way they can replace the spirit of Gently, no matter how many times they remake it.

General Comment:I, personally, like this version better then the Iowa version. I like the guitars better in this one.

This song is about something like escaping into the Umbra to escape the pressures of life. Or something like that

And hey, why do you people complain about Anders' voice? I actually like it. Its good. Its diffrent, its a great metal voice. But, yes, I do prefer Coreys. But to you people who hate and dislike Anders' voice, remember, he was the voice of Slipknot, his voice created them.

General Comment:Heathyr... I don't see why people who like metal and people who like punk can't get along... I'm an anarchist and I like Anti-Flag but I also love Godsmack and Slipknot. I think Industrial bands like NIN and Stromkern are quite talented as well. I love the song Heretic Anthem because, well, I'm a heretic! Later!
