When I was young, the smallest trick of light, Could catch my eye, Then life was new and every new day, I thought that I could fly.

I believed in what I hoped for, And I hoped in things unseen, I had wings and dreams could soar, I just don't feel like flying anymore.

When the stars threw down their spears, Watered Heaven with their tears, Before words were spoken, Before eternity.

Dear Father, I need you, Your strength my heart to mend. I want to fly higher, Every new day again.

When I was small, the furthest I could reach, reach, was not so high, then I, thought the world was so much smaller, feeling I, could fly.

Through distant deeps and skies, behind infinity, below the face of Heaven, he stoops to create me.

Man versus himself. Man versus machine. Man versus the world. mankind versus me. The struggles go on, the wisdom I lack, the burdens keep piling up on my back. So hard to breathe, to take the next step. The mountains is high, I wait in the depths. Yearning for grace, and hoping for peace. Dear God... increase.

Healing hands of God have mercy on our unclean souls once again. Jesus Christ, light of the world burning bright within our hearts forever. Freedom means love without condition, without a beginning or an end. Here’s my heart, let it be forever Yours, only you can make every new day seem so new.

Song Meaning:This song sums up all that Five Iron Frenzy was about. It's just an amazing song, especially on their last album.

General Comment:btw, we just looked at the poem The Tyger by William Blake in school today and I was surprised to see that some of the words were the same or similar to some words in this song.

Line 5 of the poem, "In what distant deeps or skies", matches FIF's line: "Through distant deeps and skies, behind infinity, below the face of Heaven, he stoops to create me."

And lines 17 and 18, "When the stars threw down their spears,/And watered heaven with their tears," match the same words in this song.

Just thought I'd point it out. But it's a great song, imo. :)

General Comment:I also heard this song at the end of The End is Here. I fall asleep to music, and I listened to this, and I fell asleep through most of it, and then woke up right as they started to sing Silent Night, and it was such a remarkable thing, so beautiful.

I don't believe in a greater power, I never have, but I can't help but to appreciate this amazing band, and the connection of the voices in Amazing Grace and Silent Night at the end of the album are just so magical feeling. Its fantastic.

Also, one of the best ska bands I've ever heard.

General Comment:This has always and always will be the best FIF song and my favorite song. Particully the live version of their last concert in Denver from The End is Here.

This song just lifts my heart towards God in an unexplainable way.

General Comment:Hear the live version from the End Is Here album, the very last track will remain in my heart while you are still alive..

That's was the most solemn and powerful "Amazing Grace" and "Silent Night" I ever heard in entire life.

God Bless FIF, where ever they are right now, U want them to know how much they touched my life in the time I needed it the most...I'm so happy I was given the chance to listen to their song, by GOD's GLORY it happened.

I wish I was also there when they were performing it.

I love them, I Love GOD!

General Comment:This is my favorite out of all FIF songs. It just says so much. It is almost like a picture says a thousand words, but it is a song. I dont really know if that makes sense, but that is how i feel.

General Comment:I haven't even been listening to FIF for a year, and every time I hear this song and read people's descriptions of it live, I can't help but think of what I missed out on, and I always hope that FIF will go on a reunion tour, but then I realize that it's not needed. We've got Heaven to look forward to:

FIF, Roper, Brave Saint Saturn, Demon Hunter, Relient K, Casting Crowns, David Crowder, POD, etc. A never ending concert before Christ's throne. Can't wait.
