I wrapped you inside my coat
When they came to fire upon the house
I didn't feel pain
Cause no one can touch me
Now that I'm held in your smile
A beautiful girl
A beautiful girl
Can turn your world into doubt
Sell me a car that goes
Sell me a house that stands
Oh
I never cared before
I never cared before
I never cared before
Before
Before
Before
A beautiful girl
A beautiful girl
Can turn your world into doubt
A beautiful girl
A beautiful girl
Can turn you world into doubt
Yeah
I stood in front of her face
When the first bullet
Was shot
When they came to fire upon the house
I didn't feel pain
Cause no one can touch me
Now that I'm held in your smile
A beautiful girl
A beautiful girl
Can turn your world into doubt
Sell me a car that goes
Sell me a house that stands
Oh
I never cared before
I never cared before
I never cared before
Before
Before
Before
A beautiful girl
A beautiful girl
Can turn your world into doubt
A beautiful girl
A beautiful girl
Can turn you world into doubt
Yeah
I stood in front of her face
When the first bullet
Was shot

If you can relate to this, look up the Wikipedia page as an introduction, or get the book by Dorothy Tennov. I only found out about this by having my own comfortable, settled, happily married world turned into dust, and having to dig deep to make sense out of what was happening to me and try to reconcile it and rebuild my life.
When the first bullet was shot"?

Overall its the tone of the song w/ those references + yorke being very literate and all. 1984 which inspired many radiohead songs is also a dystopian novel.
