The morning bell
The morning bell
Light another candle
Release me
Release me

You can keep the furniture
A bump on the head
Howling down the chimney
Release me
Release me
Yeah

Release me
Release me

Where'd you park the car?
Where'd you park the car?
Clothes are all over the furniture
And I might as well
I might as well
Sleepy jack the fire drill
Around, around, around, around, around

Around

Cut the kids in half
Cut the kids in half
Cut the kids in half

Release me
Release me

Release me

Release me

General Comment:Having first heard the Kid A version, I personally enjoy this one better, actually. I can't really see what puts the Kid A version leaps and bounds ahead as so many claim (Being on Kid A, perhaps?) I just felt that that version dragged on a bit and had a little Thom-Wailing-On-About-Something syndrome.

Listening to it again, I find it better, but I still prefer Amnesiacs more concise and ethereal version. Like an intense dream. It starts so fast it almost seems like an encore or a warm welcome back of the first one.

General Comment:It's simply a cry to get the h*ll out of a relationship....i.e. a divorce. With that said, not all divorces are ugly as porported above. Never had any argument about the children or the possessions with my ex and we still go out to eat together and spend holidays together w/ the kids. The song, though, does bring back that feeling I had when separated and desperately wanting everything to come to an end YESTERDAY! Great track.

General Comment:Divorce is a long drawn out process, and I think this is a progression from the Kid A version. The original feels more calm and melodic like it's just something that you're doing, whereas this one (how many years later?) it's haunting, almost screaming "release me"

There is the inevitable fight over who has custody of the children, and joint posessions, which is still going on. This could have been done slightly different lyrically too to add to the different feel but I think the lyrics being the same (even sung the same?) is part of the point that this process is the same argument, the same s**t every time.

General Comment:I prefer this version of the song. Danyelle is right. It IS creepy. The music to this song really adds to the intensity of what he's communicating. Divorce? Probably - but it's definitely about a break up - you don't necessarily have to married to have kids. Cut the kids in half - how dramatic. I remember hearing this song the first time thinking - did he really just say that? LOL. Just another emotion evoking song by the most brilliant lyricist ever.

General Comment:cut the kids in half. i agree with the divorce theory. you can have the furniture, but let's split the kids in half.

this could be like sharing the kids, splitting them apart from one another, or just cutting them emotionally - between choosing which parent to stay with, or just cutting their hearts in half. divorce really seperates - cuts - a family apart.

so much is really said with only 'cut the kids in half'

but at first listen it just sounds creeeeeeeepy

General Comment:I prefer this version over the one from Kid A. It's almost surreal sounding.

General Comment:I love this version much more than the Kid A version. Has a much more dark sound to it which reflects the whole theme about divorce. Just beautiful.

General Comment:I think that this song is much more beautiful than the one on kid a, although both are great songs I feel that this one has more soul in it and the ending is just way to beautiful for words to describe in my opinion. and I also think that this song is about divorce as well.

General Comment:it's interesting how the kid a and amnesiac version of this song have the same lyrics and melody, but how different they are. The kid a version really calms me... i like to listen to it when i have a headache or to get rid of that feeling of being forced to go clothes shopping and end up having to wait for someone for 2 hours. The amnesiac version is actually rather unsettling though, like random thoughts that pop into your head when you are walking in school.
