This song just shows true LOVE transcends all that. With true love we finally look at the person as who they really are... not as all those judgmental labels society attaches to them. What he means by "I don't care who you are / where you're from / what you did" is that, between lovers, those things... just don't matter anymore. They're just superficial things. It's because when you love someone, we love that person for who they REALLY are - that "inner person", so to speak, not those outside labels. And the more one falls in love, the more one discovers, that really, inside everyone, there is a beautiful fire burning.
