Won herself a pass to some far off moon
It was second class but what's to lose
And looking out her window she could more than assume
That you can't see air or time

She's the only rocketeer in the whole damn place
They gave her a mirror so she could talk to a face
She still got plenty lonely but that's just the case
With time, time, time

Started hearing voices sometime in June
She knew she could go crazy but didn't think that soon
Now she doesn't feel lonely but she'd just as soon
Try, try, try try

Man shot to the moon
I read a paperback and want to come home soon
I'm shot to the moon
Been there a half an hour, I want to come home soon

I think this songs about getting so tired of the environment you've been living in thats been making you so numb, so you opt to just take a long trip somewhere far- just to get away from it all. so there you are, far from home. you've got nobody to talk to but yourself because you left it all behind. but then you realize that physically escaping the place you've grown to hate wasn't the answer because you still keep getting visions in your head that you cannot suppress. nothing you do can keep your mind occupied. and for one reason or another, you decide to go back home. the end.

it's just a clever spin on lonlieness, i don't think he's actually talking about space travel, he's talking about doing something everybody wants to do at some point, which is go it on their own, but found out pretty quick that they need human contact.

Another Isaac song that plays on the "grass in always greener" theme. Once again he finds that that notion is just some BS trick your mind is playing on you. The girl in the song goes off to find just about the farthest away grass she can, and still: it's boring.

i love this song so much, i couldnt choose my favorite song from their "long drive" album, but this is such a good way to end the cd. i love the build ups and the lyrics and how it just goes. the rest of the cd is about road trips and being alone, and then it ends floating in space. but i think the message is you can't escape lonliness. "shes the only rocketeer in the whole damn place, they gave her a mirror so she could talk to a face" favorite lines! brock is a fuckin genius. in my opinion, modest mouse took the pink floyd approach with developing a story within an album and i love it. but they do regularly develope themes within albums, as do many other artists. brilliant music.

I hate to sound drug obsessed, but I have had some times when I've dropped acid and gotten sick of it and wanted to come down but I couldn't (and I haven't dropped acid in 5 years because of that) and I think this song is about that. I love this song BTW and agree with llamas1234 that it is a perfect way to end Long Drive.

Well I'm Havin trouble here cuz as much as i like MM i strongly belive in God. I belive he exist and theres lots of proof, but i dont really wanna debate that shit cuz no 1s gonna try to make me think different.

Ne wayz i was wonderin if i should stop listen 2 MM because of what I belive. MM is my favorite band BY FAR but i cant say I agree with them on some of there viewpoints on god.

Of course you shouldn't stop listening to MM. Would you only want to hear songs from bands that agree with you on every issue?

I enjoy the tempo changes in this song.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
