Well Jesus Christ was an only child
He went down to the river
And he drank and smiled
And his dad was oh-so-mad

Should have insured that planet
Before it crashed
Working real hard to make internet cash
Work your fingers to the bone sitting on your ass

I know now what I knew then
But I didn't know then what I know now
Penny found out as her hair was styled

You should hide you kids
While the dogs run wild
Jesus Christ was an only child

He went down to the river
And he drank and smiled
And his dad was oh-so-mad
Should have killed that little fucker
Before he even had

Memory:I think the song is about how our society is abusing of internet in the bad sense, the things are good depends of the use you do. The same with the wine.

But please people, you can't say awful things about the creator of you, your body and the everything. At least think about the values He teach us.

General Comment:From what 'biskutt' said, I think this song is about how even Jesus Christ was a little shit when he was a kid, just like every kid can be. Except this was Jesus Christ, someone who has influenced history to the modern day. Other than that, I think there's a reference to wasting your time on the internet playing MMO games raising 'gold' or 'credits' and not real money, but hey, this was 1997, so it might not be. The 'hide your kids' line could just be again, referencing to kids being little shits. I dunno.

General Comment:I haven't yet read all the comments, so if I'm repeating any ideas, my apologies.

Has anyone noticed how he talks about dogs running wild, like in Wild Packs of Family Dogs? I think maybe Penny is Isaac's mom or something, because in Wild Packs, he talks about how his family, little by little, got sucked into the religion by the Wild Dogs (preachers, etc.). So I guess, maybe, this means she regrets it (you should hide your kids while the dogs run wild).

While the dogs run wild" simply put; watch your kids. Even your perfect only child (Jesus) could turn out sour.

"He went down to the river

    And his dad was oh-so-mad"

I think this part refers to the story in chapter 2 of the Gospel of Thomas (a gospel that didn't make it into the New Testament). I can see a couple of different reasons for referencing this, one being to call out the fact there were a lot of books that didn't make it into the Bible and the early Church ultimately would have decided what got in - not too divine of a document, in that scenario. The other reason I think he might have referenced this book is that it depicts Jesus as a mischievous and kind of hateful kid (he pushes another kid off of a roof in one of the stories!?)

The lines "you should hide your kids / while the dogs run wild" reminds me for obvious reasons of "Wild Pack Of Family Dogs", anybody think theres a link? I think there's probably a continuation of the theme, but not like they tell continuations of a story or anything

"Wild Packs of Family Dogs" was about religious evangelists converting people, so it would make sense that this song, mocking Jesus and Christianity, would tie into that one.

    I also saw the connection.

General Comment:yea TBeasley is right, ive notice a trend, but its really very common with musicians, they ad a sample of lyrics from a different song, like with many of there songs good news has the same stuff, this has also been done by pink floyd,

General Comment:Yeh, wild dogs and kids must be on his mind a good bit. It must be a metaphorical type subject.
