  Pre-occupied without you I cannot live at all
  My whole world surrounds you I stumble then I crawl
  
  Just the first verse here... first line, he's talking about things being unreliable, so many double meanings or 'masks' of life it's hard to find the 'real' people
  The second is more of an affirmation, realizing that there's no substance to it and losing the connections that came from those affirmations
  The last two, preoccupied about someone, he can't let go of the feeling of worrying about them, it's hard to look forward to look where you are going. Life can make you 'trip' if you can't pay attention to what's ahead as well as behind.
  It's just the first part of that distance, the first steps are the most painful.

  General Comment:used to think the lyric was "you could be my someone you could be my seed" made way better sense. but yeah, thinks its a father singing about his son, and the chorus is directed towards the mother

  General Comment:Tuthfull, I think this is mostly the father's view about his son. Obviously, him and his wife/girlfriend are fighting, maybe even breaking up/divorcing. I think the father doesn't wana lose his son. But I think the chorus is from the kids point of view. He wants to know what's going on with his family and if they can just fix it. I may be wrong, but that's what I think, especially with the video and lyrics.

  Song Meaning:The video his actual son is featured. It is about his desire to be a good dad as you can see. I guess he and his wife were separated/ divorced. And in the video it shows her new BF being a real... well jerk. And I think the bridge is saying "I will protect you son no matter where you are." I shall analyse as to what I think lol.

  From all of the obscene"- I will protect you from any dismay (as you see in the video the fights)
  "I wonder what your doing
  Imagine where you are"- I wonder if you are ok
  "There's oceans in between us
  But that's not very far"- If you are in trouble I will be there to comfort you.
  
  Understand thats only MY interpretation. But I think it is somewhat close. But even though this song IS about his son there is no doubt. I had heard that from a reliable source.

    I think your interpretation is spot on. I'd like to add the chorus, my favorite part of the song:
    "Can you take it all away
    Well you shoved it in my face"
    Having had lets just say an abusive dad during my early childhood, I see it as the young father talking to his dad, as he is deeply scared by what he did while he was so young and defenceless ( this determines him to be a great dad).
    My dad has somewhat changed but he feels I hate him and he cannot comprehend why I can't forgive him for things he did so long ago and all I want to answer him is these 2 lines.

  General Comment:I think its about a girl who abondans a relationship with her boyfriend because she let other people's opinions influence how she should feel.

  But it wasn't always so, they used to be in love, but society drove her away and as they transition away from being in love to becoming strangers, he's asking her how she really feels about the situtaion (aside from what everyone says.)
