    It is getting away. As other people have said in the comments, just giving the fuck up. It is like having an argument, or failing at something and the moment, you realise that you cannot win. You are just fucked.

    My Opinion:i'm feelin this song is about suicide, noting Isaac's depressing (but incredible) lyrics.

    General Comment:I think I've got this one here..

    "Gone fishing" is clearly saying that he's going insane, just like in Pink Floyd's "The Trial" the line "Toys in the attic, I am crazy, truely gone fishing.."

    As far as "taking the path of least resistance" I'm thinking that he's not fighting it anymore..He's going mad and he's finally come to terms with it?

    Then again..I may be totally in the wrong direction, but I think everyone will see what they wanna see in any lyrics.

    General Comment:Everyone's saying that this is the best song on Sad Sappy Sucker, but I have to say that Black Blood and Old Newagers is by far my favourite on SSS. As for the meaning of this one here, I'm going to completely agree norwegianwood. Couldn't have written it better meself.

    General Comment:This little song has an interesting connection to "Grey Ice Water". That song has a theme of moving to Alaska and working in the cannery/fishing business to escape an ex-girlfriend. Taking the "path of least resistance" is mentioned in that song, and as we all know how Brock likes to link diff. songs together with the same lyrics and themes, I wonder if the "gone fishin'...i'm taking the path of least resistance" has a connection to the theme of "Grey Ice Water".
