inside the convex lens we all crash new jet planes tonight. and the sin is back in medicine. beltway goes around. monuments are thinking. beltway burns down. monuments are sinking. and it's on. everything's fine. we'll sleep on ice when this bed is on fire. we'll sleep all nice but instead of retire, we'll kick those lights out. this party is on fire. we'll kick these lights out. your party is on fire.

General Comment:"The sin is back in medicine." Seems like a pretty important line. Drug use/abuse/condoning/resisting/disillusionment?

General Comment:They proclaim: "Inside the convex lens/ We all crash new jet planes tonight," in an attempt to emulate their icon, Fugazi's Guy Picciotto, who put it much better when he sang, "Your eyes/ Like crashing jets/ Fixed in stain glass/ With no religion." from pitchforkmedia.com hmm it's for you to figure out!

General Comment:The album came out in 2000, so that doesn't make much sense.

I think it's about how they are from DC, and they want to see everything that people know DC for to go away. Everyone knows the Beltway, and the monuments, and they would care less if that all went away.

General Comment:"beltway goes around. monuments are thinking. beltway burns down. monuments are sinking."

....anything to do with 9/11, "monuments are sinking" (world trade center), "monuments are thinking" (white house thinking about actions to take after 9/11).

Just makes sense in some aspects, but other i dont have a clue.

General Comment:Why worry about monuments, beltways, and planes? Party on! That is what q would want you to do. You can tell by the shift from "beltway burns down. monuments are sinking" to "we'll sleep all nice but instead of retire, we'll kick those lights out". Subtle attempt at figuring out the amazingness of q?... I think so.

General Comment:personally, i think this song is about the band's disillusionment with established political parties. talking about the beltway spinning round, going down, and taking the monuments with it works as an indictment of national politics. "we'll sleep on ice when this bed is on fire/ we'll sleep all nice but instead of retire, we'll kick those lights out" seems like it's about privileged politicians living comfortably in seats of power as opposed to letting in others.

More importantly, though, this song is dancy as hell.

General Comment:all their songs are very abstract. this one isnt as bad as some, but is still pretty hard to decipher. and all of their song also make me want to dance.
i'm seeing them in a few weeks i'll ask what some of the songs are about.

    i thinkit's about drugs though
