    General Comment:I think this song is talking about how someone is questioning all the people around them. They feel they don't think or see things the same as the other people and he feels them trying to overtake him. He has to make a choice whether he gives in and starts to believe and live as these 'bugs' do or he could lash out against them, or he can turn against them.

    General Comment:Hmm.. I am not one of those people that feel all song about about drugs... but for me, I thought the song was about the creepy/crawly feeling ya get from coming down. Tickle my nausea.

    General Comment:The first time I heard this song I couldn't stop laughing, it's a funny song. The bugs kind of remind me of anxiety attacks though and I think a lot of people suffering from anxiety disorders would agree. The song could easily be about drugs as well or anything you want it to be about.

    It sounds like it's about OCD/germophobia, of you've ever known someone who suffers from it.

    Many people who suffer from the condition refuse to shake hands etc.

    General Comment: all u die hard PJ fans should know this..... the funny thing, is that pearljam68....as innocent as he/she probably is...hit it right on the nose!!!....A drunk Vedder and co were rambling and recording nonsense....and sure, there's reference to Vedder's anti-corporate media....but this really is just nothing....read 'Five Against One"! (and u weirdo's with too much time on their hands breaking-up songs lyric by lyric with this long, drawn out philosophical view bullshit....just listen and enjoy Vedders genius!!!)

    General Comment:This is probably not what Pearl Jam was trying to say when they wrote the song, but this is what I take away from it:

    Bugs represent people, society, and mass-media. The speaker is trying to remain an individual but he is constantly being watched by everyone around him and judged by these people. Eventually in order to satisfy these people he sacrifices his own individuality to become part of the conformist mass that surrounds him. Maybe this could relate to the singer more specifically if you replace society with music companies and producers and his individuality with his uniqueness as a musician? But this is just what I take away from the song. I really like this song, I agree with previous posters, it has a fun feeling to it and I enjoy listening.

    General Comment:Eddie Vedder is F***ing AMAZING. So even with crappy music drumming and accordion he recites these lyrics which make you think about a million different things he could be correlating this to. But I think he's talking about... Bugs :)

    General Comment:A lot of Vitalogy went with the theme of them being uncomfortable with their fame. The music industry, the media, the fans, everyone is represented as bugs surrounding him. The more there are, the more uncomfortable he gets. He's afraid that eventually they will get sucked in by their success and join the "bugs".
