Life is a waterfall,
We're one in the river,
And one again after the fall.
Swimming through the void
We hear the word,
We lose ourselves,
But we find it all?
Cause we are the ones that want to play,
Always want to go,
But you never want to stay,
And we are the ones that want to choose,
Always want to play,
But you never want to lose.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Life is a waterfall,
We drink from the river,
Then we turn around and put up our walls.
Swimming through the void
We hear the word,
We lose ourselves,
But we find it all?
Cause we are the ones that want to play,
Always want to go,
But you never want to stay,
And we are the ones that want to choose,
Always want to play,
But you never want to lose.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Aerials, so up high,
When you free your eyes,
Eternal prize.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Aerials, so up high,
When you free your eyes,
Eternal prize.
We're one in the river,
And one again after the fall.
Swimming through the void
We hear the word,
We lose ourselves,
But we find it all?
Cause we are the ones that want to play,
Always want to go,
But you never want to stay,
And we are the ones that want to choose,
Always want to play,
But you never want to lose.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Life is a waterfall,
We drink from the river,
Then we turn around and put up our walls.
Swimming through the void
We hear the word,
We lose ourselves,
But we find it all?
Cause we are the ones that want to play,
Always want to go,
But you never want to stay,
And we are the ones that want to choose,
Always want to play,
But you never want to lose.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Aerials, so up high,
When you free your eyes,
Eternal prize.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Aerials, so up high,
When you free your eyes,
Eternal prize.

I would have to say it means clouds.
"Life is a waterfall,
We're one in the river,"
- This is basically saying that in life we as human beings are all together.
"And one again after the fall."
- We will be re-united in the afterlife.
"Swimming through the void
We hear the word,"
- As we go through life we constantly hear the word of God.
"We lose ourselves,
But we find it all?"
- In life we often forget our true nature. The word of God is supposed to lead us to finding that true nature. There is a question mark on the end because we will never know if we will find out our true nature. It is also there because very few people follow the complete word of God, so how are we to know if it leads us to truth.
-This section could also have another meaning. They could be saying that we forget our true selves while pursuing materialistic things in life. By losing ourselves, we find it all? The question mark is asking are materialistic items all there is to life and happiness?
"Cause we are the ones that want to play,"
- This refers to human beings inherent nature of always trying to keep themselves busy, entertained or idle.
"Always want to go,
But you never want to stay,"
- This can refer to the impermanence of life. (Life is always changing)
- It can also refer to humans always living life on the go and never staying in the moment. We live life too fast and never take time to enjoy it.
"And we are the ones that want to choose,"
- Humans have a need to control their lives.
"Always want to play,
But you never want to lose."
- Again, humans want to keep themselves busy. They often do this by doing things they enjoy.
- This section may refer to humans natural pursuit of pleasure and aversion to pain. Pleasure being to play and pain being to lose.
"Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life."
- Aerials can be taken to mean angels. Angels and other heavenly figures were always free of the human condition. They were free of the issues we humans face. They know the truth about life, so perhaps we should look up to them for answers.
- The next line could be an answer given down to us from the heavens. When you open your narrow (small) mind, your life becomes free. When we think narrowly we close ourselves out to the rest of the world. By thinking more open we remove these barriers and are free from this enclosure.
"Life is a waterfall,
We drink from the river,
Then we turn around and put up our walls."
- We indulge in humanly pleasures and life. We take all the goods we seen in life, but at the end of the day we still shut others out. We stop others from experiencing the true joys we discover in life. We are selfish and do not share well. Again, by putting up walls we are enclosing ourselves in. We can never find our true free nature unless we are open, accepting, and loving.
"Aerials, so up high,
When you free your eyes,
Eternal prize."
- Again they are looking to the heavens for answers. The response is by becoming free of what encloses us, we will be rewarded with eternal happiness.
-Freeing our eyes means to rid ourselves of prejudice, discrimination, racism, etc... Our minds and eyes are open to all that is good in the world. We put our differences aside for the betterment of humankind. By one person doing this they will achieve truth/happiness in the afterlife, but by everyone doing this eternal happiness is obtainable on earth as well as in the afterlife.
Thanx
We're one in the river,
And one again after the fall"
and
"When you lose small mind,
You free your life
Sounds like zen talk...or its one hell of a coincidence. Anyone ever read any of Shunryu Suzuki's stuff? Suzuki uses a very similiar water fall analogy in one of his lectures...and often spoke of "small mind/big mind", like, for example: "when small mind becomes calm, the Big Mind starts its true activity"
And, in short, this is usually what is meant by the water-fall thing: We are one (like a river) ...but --as human beings--we appear seperate (like the drops of a water-fall ) , but in the end we return back to the source, back to being one (the river)...and underneath the illusion of seperateness we've been the river all along, just just don't realize it. Or, another popular way to put it: We're like waves on the ocean. Each wave is a seperate wave, yet each wave is the same ocean. A wave appears upon the ocean, returns to the ocean, is the ocean. So it is with humans. And as for the rest of the song, I don't know wtf their talking about, lol. Peace.
You guys got it wrong.. Go look up biography and stories by them.
They state in lyrics in Chop Suey even asking for "Father" Not blood father or it would not be capitalized, but god "Father". I'm not a big religious person but i do know that they are religious.
