Lyrics for Forest as interpreted by F4RiD

Forest Lyrics
Walk with me my little child,
To the forest of denial,
Speak with me my only mind,
Walk with me until the time,
And make the forest turn to wine,
You take the legend for a fall,
You saw the product,

Why can't you see that you are my child,
Why don't you know that you are my mind,
Tell everyone in the world, that I'm you,
Take this promise to the end of you.

Walk with me my little friend,
Take this promise to the end,
Speak with me my only mind,
Walk with me until the end,
And make the forest turn to sand,
You take the legend for a fall,
You saw the product,

Why can't you see that you are my child,
Why don't you know that you are my mind,
Tell everyone in the world, that I'm you,
Take this promise to the end of you.

Take this promise for a ride,
You saw the forest, now come inside,
You took the legend for its fall,
You saw the product of it all,
No televisions in the air,
No circumcisions on the chair,
You made the weapons for us all,
Just look at us now,

Why can't you see that you are my child,
Why don't you know that you are my mind,
Tell everyone in the world, that I'm you,
Take this promise to the end of you.

i think its about uncovering something about his childhood that was he was denying, and is now just coming to terms with it.. not sure though, it doesn't seem to explain the full song.

i would agree with axenic if it wasnt for the line that says "you made the weapons for us all, just look at us now". so that makes me think that he is using symbolism in this song when he talks about the child. the child being a country..like america and we make the weapons for all the other countries and then they go and turn against us like 9-11-01. system of a down is a very pollictical band if you havent noticed in any of their other songs...but then when u look at the other words of the song they have nothing to do with anything i just said...i'm thinking the child is an idea of some pollictal value.

I think it says that our minds have the capacity to do a lot of good things but also bad things, "you made the weapons for us all" means that we made the weapons and we are not taking the responsability to use them correctly; for self protection. And the "just look at us now" is telling that we have turned out wrong.

This song is directed to the fans. He has shown the fans (his child) the turmoil created in our nation with his lyrics (ie political songs like Prison Song), and wants you to spread the word. "You made the weapons for us all" is talking about how we have contributed to unimportant object like tv and circumcision which he explains in the lyrics. "Why can't you see that you are my child, Why don't you know that you are my mind" means that you are listening to his lyrics and that you need to tell everyone the world that he gave you a glimpse of (the forest turned to wine/sand).

Oh yeah, he feels that he is shaping you like a child growing into an adult. He is so proud of his you that he wants you to scream everything he has told you.

Maybe i'm crazy, but I think the song is about an interaction with God trying to explain to Christ that he is not just a man, but that he was created in his image.

the chorus
the reference to miracles (turn to wine, sand)
tell everone that I'm you (created in image)
take this promise to the end of you ( even if the truth kills you)

I think it means that the world is screwed up. The only place we will be happy is in denial. That is where everyone is at the moment with the state of the world.
I think that maybe the line 'Tell everyone in the world, that I'm you, ' is saying that we are all the same, and that we all have to come to terms with what we are doing to the world hence verse three..i think he is saying thast look where the denial gets us, we create the weapons, we destroy the earth, and yet we don't want to take the blame...but i don't no if thats rite..just my view.

i think waxxytwo is right, but i'm not sure if it's a message from god to christ or from god to us, and about us denying the lord

i kinda agree with the dilweed83 about the denial cause when he sings "that I'm you i think of it a like the inner child and and being in denial of that child, although now that i lookt at the other comments they seem to make sense as well so now i don't know!

To me it's more of a transmission of knowledge in some way. To a child, obviously. He's shown him everything in the world, he knows the fruits of his labor, etc. and the child has completely forsaken all of this. He wants this child to retain all he has shown/taught him. "Tell everyone in the world that I'm you" as in keep with it all. Sort of. Get what I mean?

i know for a fact that serj is talking about jesus i mean its only there like (Walk with me my little child,
To the forest of denial,
Speak with me my only mind, ( he is part of god)
Walk with me until the time,
And make the forest turn to wine, (jesus turned blood to wine)
You take the legend for a fall,
You saw the product, (how unjustice people were in those days)
Why can't you see that you are my child, (god child)
Why don't you know that you are my mind, (they both are the saem mind)
Tell everyone in the world, that I'm you, (he'/s was made by god so he is part of him and he was the one that that let every one know about him)
Take this promise to the end of you)

Take this promise for a ride,
You saw the forest, now come inside, (the forest in the earth and he saw how bad it was)
You took the legend for its fall,
You saw the product of it all,
No televisions in the air,
No circumcisions on the chair, (in genisis god told isaah (im not sure if it was him) that every one has to be circumsised and the jewish people up to this day still follow this)
You made the weapons for us all,
Just look at us now, )

Tell everyone in the world. Tell them how *ucked up you are.. rise..
Christ, if only u were, u could;
but u aren't,God, u don't.
We are all fucked up. *5000*->*4000*->oh, *3000* dead. and what about those dying daily? 30,000 children! daily? where are the hero's? Where's the sympathy?
What about the millions past?
Ignorance, Denial;blindness: product of it all?
Sing to Neitzche as he rocks his grave. Sing to me.

I definitely agree with you people. This is probsbly my current favorite song, and I believe that System is one of the greatest bands ever. Any CD you can listen to for 20 hours straight and not get bored with is excellent in my book.

Jesus turned water into wine not blood. but i think the song has more political meaning than God/Jesus meaning, but i dunno really. the music this band makes is unique metal and i like the way this guy sings. his voice has a sort of gritty angry power to it.

Hmm Jesus his blood was wine for the people, but true, he did not turned water into wine.
But... w0w... the post of Tanko is a riddle in it self. But I dunno, it somehow feels like it really belongs to the song... I think ignorance, denial and blindness play a great part in this song.
btw... Nietzche really is interesting... this guy became crazy of his own theories... he said there was no god... fascinating...

This song reminds me of the novel, THE SCARLET LETTER. In such a case, where the child called to the forest which is the main characters daughter, and in come cases her own flesh and damned future. The forest which is an actual forest means so much more than a few trees and shade. It symbolizes the comfort of freedom from labels and tortures of society. It is however presumed to be evil by all who do not understand it, there-in to be lef to the "forest" some would call it "temptation".....

I think tha song is about something inside of him, like a memory or his inner child, that he's feels like he's neglected. He thinks he needs to take a long "walk" with it and get to kno that part of himself better. But then again, thatz jus' my opinion.

Here's what Serj and Hohn had to say about this song, to Kerrang! magazine:

Serj: Erm, how can I put this? You know how a paedophile looks at a young boy? Well, the way that a paedophile looks at a young child is the way that...someone is looking at their own mind.

John: Er...I don't know what that meant.

Serj: People can define it for themselves.

Puts a new perspective on the song for you? Definitely does for me. The lines 'Why can't you see that you are my child' and 'walk with me my little child/to the forest of denial' take on quite some added signifance, non? Add the ideas of the little boy smiling and it'll all be well and Johnny being a sweet little boy (I will always want you) and it seems there is another agenda behind System's fine tunes!

Just a thought...

To be honest, i think Wang was the most right of all. Serj is talking about raising a clueless, ignorant "child" (society) and he has nurtured him with ideas and free thought that made him what he (that you are my mind) but he must survive the Forest of Denial, the true test,(the media and all the other influences that give false believes ((televisions in the air))) He wants him to go on and tell other people because he has the potential to think freely (made the weapons for us all) and now all he has to do is reach others and give them the power to think freely too...but from what i can see he failed to survive the forest ("just look at us now") and that's why everything is the way it is today (System of a Down is obviously not happy with the Status Quo..)
