Walk with me my little child,
To the forest of denial,
Speak with me my only mind,
Walk with me until the time,
And make the forest turn to wine,
You take the legend for a fall,
You saw the product,

Why can't you see that you are my child,
Why don't you know that you are my mind,
Tell everyone in the world, that I'm you,
Take this promise to the end of you.

Walk with me my little friend,
Take this promise to the end,
Speak with me my only mind,
Walk with me until the end,
And make the forest turn to sand,
You take the legend for a fall,
You saw the product,

Why can't you see that you are my child,
Why don't you know that you are my mind,
Tell everyone in the world, that I'm you,
Take this promise to the end of you.

Take this promise for a ride,
You saw the forest, now come inside,
You took the legend for its fall,
You saw the product of it all,
No televisions in the air,
No circumcisions on the chair,
You made the weapons for us all,
Just look at us now,

Why can't you see that you are my child,
Why don't you know that you are my mind,
Tell everyone in the world, that I'm you,
Take this promise to the end of you.

My Interpretation:This song has many different segments.

In the beginning he is taking about being an Armenian and his loss of identity. Then it seems like Armenia is calling him back saying "I am you" so this is about how he fully realized the extent of the Armenian Genocide and was realigned with his culture and country. However this was not all positive and the weight of the Genocide weighed heavy on his heart which is why he is such an activist to the day.

Although I see a few arguments about the Jesus/God theory I must disagree simply because Serj is such a staunch atheist. Even though people are right about the Armenian first Christian nation thing, NONE of SOAD is religious and if religion ever is represented in their songs it is not in a good light.

The promise that he must to take to the end is to have the denial recognized. This is where the weapons and circumcision stuff comes in. Its because of petty things like war, politics and religion that he cannot fulfill the promise that he has made to his country. This is a direct reference to the America-Turkey relations and how a little air space is getting between the realization and reprisal for a crime against humanity.

General Comment:First time i heard this song, I knew it had something to do with God talking to Christ. Forest as in Garden of Eden??? "You saw the forest, now come inside" or " You take the LEGEND for a fall" Legend of the Garden of Eden?? Perhaps? Obiously the chorus "Why can´t you see that you are my child" The biggest hint is "Tell everyone in the world, that I´m you" Isnt that what christ did?? Thats my point of view. Hope it was helpfull.

General Comment:I read in an article that the guitar player was brought up very catholic and that sometimes they write songs from a christian point of view just because... So with that in mind I think this song is about God talking tot he people of earth... Or at least the christians who follow Him. Like somehwere it says he made us in his image, right? And He did miracles like turn water to wine... And christians are supost to reflect Him. I think He's talking to christians that aren't living correctly? That's what I've always thought anyways... "Take this promise to the end of you"

Song Meaning:About "No televisions in the air":

It is about people who believes in something (like who believe in god), but believes in everything they say to you... People trust the TV... People trust the news, and if the news says everything is alright, so, people believe everything is ok.

General Comment:This song is about Myths as Jesus Christ and the Religions.

"Why can't you see that you are my child,
Why don't you know that you are my mind,
Tell everyone in the world, that I'm you,
Take this promise to the end of you."

This part says that Jusus is the son of God, and everything he says or do is part of God's will, and he has to tell it to everyone, and everyone has to follow JC 'till death and "afterlife".

"Walk with me my little child,
    To the forest of denial,
Speak with me my only mind,
Walk with me until the time,
And make the forest turn to wine,
You take the legend for a fall,
    You saw the product,"

This part says "Trust in Me even if major part of the people says I do not exist, and he will attend you only if you say what "He wants to listen" and "Do everything He wants you to do". But some people stop believing in God, or some gives a wrong meaning for the "legend" (Like "money churches"), or kill in the name of God, as some Muslim, and then, you saw what happened with the legend.

"Take this promise for a ride,
You saw the forest, now come inside,
You took the legend for its fall,
You saw the product of it all,
    No televisions in the air,
    No circumcisions on the chair,
You made the weapons for us all,
    Just look at us now,"

This part says that some people stop believing, or stop going to the church and apply their obligations with God, beeing part of the "forest of denial" (people who says "no" to God), and you begin to say that it is a lie, that god does not exist, and to conflict with people who believe, telling what happens when you are out of the "real world" and lives to God. After that, the "church" is a bit down, people are leaving it, stoping to believe. People says that God have to do good things, and the comandments says "Thou shall not kill", "thou shall not lie", so, why god gave inteligence to make guns and weapons? Now, look what people do for God, some kill, some lie about god for money, some do nothing.

My Opinion:Well it definatelty has a lot to do with genesis. I think the forest is related in Serg's mind both to the tree of knowledge and the after math of a chaotic event such as a full-scale nuclear war, or an act of god.

Nuclear war is most likely because the song says you created the weapons for us all.

I also think there is a clear christ reference in this and other SOAD songs.

General Comment:Without reading any other interpretation - and just the lyrics. This song is obviously about men / earth being ONE. Hence the name.. Forest. Also, from other SOAD songs there is faith abundantly clear.. Tell everyone in the world that I'm you. Believe in the lord, and praise him..

General Comment:It's a humorous way to convey how God sent his only son to change the world and ended up creating more violence.

"Take this promise to the end of you. - Believe that you are my child until your death.(crucifixion)

"Walk with me my little friend" - Still talking to Jesus.

"And make the forest turn to sand" : - make the earth turn to chaos.

"Take this promise for a ride,

You saw the forest, now come inside" - Now that you've been to earth(the forest), come back to heaven(God's home).

"You saw the product of it all"- the results of the humanity

"No televisions in the air" - God does not see us
No circumcisions on the chair" - nobody is really doing the rituals or the ceremonies of the church

"You made the weapons for us all" - Thanks to Christ and when he died on the cross, many wars began.

"Just look at us now" - look at what you've done to us and the humans; chaos.

That's just how they write, they've always made songs like that guys, they are Christian and they are extremely rebellious when it comes to sending a message through lyrics...
