Run...hide
All that was sacred to us
Sacred to us
See the signs
The covenant has been broken
By mankind
Leaving us with no shoulder...with no shoulder
To rest our head on
To rest our head on
To rest our head on

Who's got my back now?
When all we have left is deceptive
So disconnected
So what is the truth now?

There's still time
All that has been devastated
Can be recreated
Realize
We pick up the broken pieces
Of our lives
Giving ourselves to each other...ourselves to each other
To rest our head on
To rest our head on
To rest our head on

Who's got my back now?
When all we have left is deceptive
So disconnected
So what is the truth now?

Tell me the truth now...Tell us the truth now

Who's got my back now?
When all we have left is deceptive
So disconnected
So what is the truth now?

General Comment:It reminds me of Halo. Idk why, I think it's because

    The covenant has been broken
    By mankind

    Mankind being the UNSC
and the covenant, well being the covenant.
I think this is mostly from the Elites' point of view, because their belief was broken down by Master Chief and the UNSC.
    Idk, just a thought.

General Comment:Fro soem reason the first time I heard this song I thought of 9/11. I was hoping to hear of a connection since this album came out after 9/11. So far never heard of one. I still think of 9/11 when I hear this song. That's the beauty of music. You can interpret a song to suit your own feelings. To each his own.

General Comment:I think the meaning of this song is not in specific lines but as a message as a whole... there are a few themes/questions that are repetitious throughout the song like: who is there to support 'us' and the pursual of the truth 'what is the truth'
this song to me is generally both sad and uplifting. sounds like the leader of a tribe trying to rally his people to forget that which has torn their culture/society apart and rebuild by seeking the truth.

General Comment:I'm from germany and although I believe that my english isn't that bad, I really have some problems with understanding the meaning of the chorus. Is "Who's got my back now" a saying or something like this? If you translate this word by word it doesn't make much sence...

General Comment:its about how the world has let itself go. no one helps anyone. the world has reached its worst, and unless we all give eachother a shoulder to rest on, the worlds gonna get worst

General Comment:This song to me has a different meaning… the way I see it is that someone just found out they were deceived in a big way by a spouse, lover, partner, parent, etc… and you are barely coming to grips with it ad you don’t know what to do:

    Who's got my back now?
When all we have left is deceptive
    So disconnected
So what is the truth now?

And now they’re finding out that all that they had, all that they lost can be “re-created”:

    There's still time
    All that has been devastated
    Can be recreated
    Realize
We pick up the broken pieces
    Of our lives
Giving ourselves to each other...ourselves to each other
    To rest our head on

I dunno… that’s my take on it. That’s how it speaks to me
