Lyrics for Episode IV as interpreted by girlypunk

Episode IV Lyrics
Episode four leads us away from here. Don't expect to find what you're will intends. IĘcan see the light leading away from you. Let's dissappear, we'll take a trip of no return to outter space. And swim in pools which keep us warm. Cleaned off the scent from off your faith. We'll dance off time to the songs we've never liked. And sing off key, thinkin it sounds alright. And you know I almost lost my will to live. Show and tell turning your episode four.. (repeat).

how has no one commented JEW's greatest love song? i especially love the 'sing off key, thinkin it sounds alright' bit because thats what a lot of people do when they're in love, in the sense that you no longer care what is happening as long as you and your partner are happy. i can't be cruel to a song with a star wars reference either. beautiful.

I agree.

How can there be no comments (except for us two now) over this song.

This is easily one of JEW's greatest songs. JEW shows thier musical ability in every song they play and this song shows one of their many aspects. Beautiful.

Great song, Great band.

Yeah I really love this JEW song. Although it always makes me really sad. Beautiful lyrics and a wonderful song all around. It is deffinetly a love song but it has such a melancholy feel to it. It breaks my heart when he says " and you know I almost lost my will to live"

Man, this song is likely the best off static prevails. It's a pure emotion and comforting song to simply listen to. I love how this band can just warm your heart by hearing a song, even if you don't catch all the lyrics. And then, once you hear all the lyrics, it just amplifies the song's power.
"we'll dance off time to the songs we've never liked. and sing of key, thinking it sounds alright" i can't get over those lyrics right there. perfect. Heheh, yeah, guess i'm just addicted/in love with music overall. And this band masters all that music was made for.

it is just the perfect encapsulation of being so in love that you just don't care anymore about anything. You can just get up and dance and sing to a song because you are so in love, you just don't care what anyone thinks.

episode IV, wow, what an awesome track this is. It's highly underrated i think, the best of Static (with Claire and World is Static). Beautiful love song, I can really relate to. "We'll dance off time to songs we never liked / And sing off key thinking it sounds alright". How can you not love this song?!

Episode IV is one of my favorites from Static Prevails for sure. Its pure emotion, but it doesn't follow suit with the rest of the album, and as much as I love the bare energy that the rest of static prevails offers this song is truly captivating in its intricacy and lyrics. The song seems to be about a night that either Tom or Jim or whoever spent with a girl they cared deeply about. I draw that mostly from the lines," swimming pools which keep us warm" and " cleaned the sand from off our feet ", in the desert it cools off fast at night but swimming pools retain the heat longer and for Tom it seems, him and this girl found refuge from the cold during this one special night they shared, this song is just the perfect inbodiment of teenage love in Arizona.

Can anyone tell me what to do with these lines:
"And you know I almost lost my will to live."
If it really was a romantic and beautiful moment then I don't understand these lines.
More likely it appears to be a very sad memory.

The "..lost my will to live" part is explaining his life before "she" entered it, I think. He's saying that it was her who reminded him why life is worth living.

Thanks for all these comments... I can't believe noone noticed the original mistake by girlypunk...

I'm pretty sure it's "clean off the sand from off your feet..." not the scent and faith thing... no harm done.

This is one of the few songs that can bring tears to my eyes. It's unadulterated perfection. "We'll dance off time to songs we've never liked, and sing off key, thinking it sounds alright." It takes a band of a higher level to write something of that. My Sundown also is proof of genius

This love song is amazing. It's vague yet deep. Which is pretty much jimmy right there. There lyrics make you think...they dont' just put it out there with obvious, they make you think a little to understand the meaning behind their music, and along with their amazing abilities, this makes jimmy eat world an incredible band.

This song really taps into something very special, and it does it in such a way without directly speaking about it, but just suggesting in that direction, so that people listening to it can identify with it... kind of subtle but obvious at the same time. I'm not sure that I've ever been this in love which is why I find it almost a sad song, but it's a song that makes you want to be in love. So in love that you don't give a damn what other people are saying or thinking, so long as you're with that other person. Great song, very sensitively written.

A guess: The title of "Episode IV" in the StarWars saga is "A New Hope". Perhaps this song refers to just that - finding a new hope for life in someone you love. =]
