I don't care what you do
I'm getting out
No nothing ever shames me
Don't want to thing from you
I'm going out
I don't care if you're angry
I'm getting out
No nothing ever shames me
I'm going out
I don't care if you're angry
I should've thought things through
I'm holding out
But not getting an answer
I want to do right by you
I'm finding out
Cheating gets it faster
I'm holding out
Not getting an answer
I'm finding out that
Cheating gets it faster
I'm holding out
But not getting an answer
I'm finding out
Cheating gets it faster
I don't care what you do
I'm getting out
No nothing ever shames me
Don't want to thing from you
I'm going out
I don't care if you're angry
I should've thought things through
Yeah I'm holding out
But not getting an answer
I want to do right by you
I'm finding out that
Cheating gets it faster
I'm getting out
No nothing ever shames me
I'm going out
I don't care if you're angry
I holding out
But not getting an answer
I'm finding out
Cheating gets it faster

    General Comment:Favorite j.e.w.
Personally, I don't take "cheating" to strictly be meant in the literal sense.
To me, the meaning is basically a long the lines of most interpretations:
Negative Relationship (or even lack there of.. being lead on either within a relationship or in lieu of a relationship)
I see it as intimated that it's one-sided commitment "i should of thought things through/i'm holding out/not getting an answer"
basically a relationship that's more difficult than rewarding

"cheating gets it faster" is double-entendresque in my interpretation in that yes, it could be technically just looking elsewhere but moreover it's sort of the philosophy of "why do it the hard way" not too disparately from Bright Eye's line "I'd rather be working for a paycheck than waiting to win the lottery".. i.e. struggling.. "holding out" for something ephemerally wonderful doesn't always pay out.
I may be over-thinking it, but I like the line in that way... the idea that there's not always merit in toil... sometimes "cheating gets it faster."
    Letting go.
    Occam's Razor.

General Comment:lots of good ideas here.
for me what it meant when i first heard it (and it was very relevant to me and my soon to be girlfriend at the time), it meant that the guy is kind of trying to break up with his girlfriend - or asking to take things to the "next level" - she's being unresponsive, and he gets frustrated.
so to end the relationship he's tried a verbal approach - "i wanna do right by you" - and seems to get nowhere, and can't bring himself to break up with her. so he figures that in order to get the breakup, he cheats. hence, cheating gets the breakup faster.
but that's just what my interpretation has always been, and i like it, because it made sense for me when i first heard it, and it still does when i look back those 3-4 years ago when i broke up with my psycho girlfriend for a much better girl, who also had just ended a long-term relationship after a long time of trying

General Comment:just to add that if it start like this, it often continue on the way you see this song so it's only a matter of time before you get cheated and chaet to your turn

General Comment:It's not only a matter of relationship to me because in fact, we live in a society who used to cheat and it's true that it work and get it easier, faster. Some examples: you are blocked in a video game? cheating get it faster. You want to get a higher level on your business so you cheat and lie to get the influent people on your side. Just think about it, in a society where we made the choice to take the easy way instead of the good one, what does stay of our values like honesty and respect? who knows?

General Comment:My interpretation is that the singer is in an unsatisfactory relationship.

I first heard this song when I was in the same position. I couldn't get rid of him, but I knew a regular breakup with him. I found a new guy while I was attempting to break up with the old. (I didn't cheat on him, but I did wait until the last possible minute and just did it. Told him and then dated the new guy.)

I can see how in the song Jimmy is saying that instead of all that bad feeling, cheating ends the relationship faster. Yeah the person is hurt, but they are also angry and focus on those emotions instead.

The guy in the song, is trying to force her to make the move and she is still holding on. So now he's going to be more rude, and hurt her more to make her let go so he can be with the new girl.
