Sooner or later more,
These words to paper pour.
Compose apologies, To bring you back to me.
What words were written for…
One girl whose pages tore.
I’ll bet you never knew, With a letter came a fool for you.
She says she’d worked it out,
This room’s not big enough for two.
He swears she’d work his words out, If she ever knew.
How do I find her, Bearing my heart in hand.
Last winter, Anne Arbour Was all I had.
I still wear your heart around my throat
I still wear your heart around my throat
With barely the air not to choke.
Never, not ever again.
I finally replaced every promise you’ve taken away.
Now that it’s over, I’m older and colder this way.
I finally replaced every promise you’ve taken away.
How do I find her, Bearing my heart in my hand.
Last winter, Anne Arbour was all I had.

General Comment:I love the Red Letter Day version. The Xylophone part is prime and makes it.

General Comment:They did play it during the encore at their last Detroit show...

I don't know how much that means, but Matt and Ryan talked about the city to get a kick out of the crowd before the song.
Supposedly it was the only time they played it during the tour.

General Comment:to me anne arbour is a location and he is saying the only thing in his life at the time was this place b/c the girl was not there for him.
i always had this song but never listened to the lyrics untill my girlfriend broke up with me. she gave me a ring for good luck but i never put it on my finger i put a string through it and put it around my throat.
so the first time i ACTUALLY listened to the song i broke down b/c the ring was still around my throat.
beautiful song i will always remember it

General Comment:It's hard to say whether it's the city they're referring to, a girl, a girl who perhaps had some connection to the city, or whatever - I don't think it matters. I'm a girl, and I live in Ann Arbor. I like the song 'cause after a breakup in the fall of sophomore year I could really relate... and A2 is so bitter cold (haha, by southern Michigan standards) in the winter but so pretty in the summer... there's almost a message just in that.
