Lyrics for Dramamine as interpreted by rojazz

Dramamine Lyrics
Traveling, swallowing Dramamine
Feeling spaced, breathing out Listerine
I'd said what I'd said that I'd tell you
And that you'd killed the better part of me
If you could just milk it for everything
I've said what I'd said and you know what I mean
But I still can't focus on anything
We kiss on the mouth but still cough down our sleeves
Traveling, swallowing Dramamine
Look at your face like you're killed in a dream
And you think you've figured out everything
I think I know my geometry pretty damn well
You say what you need so you'll get more
If you could just milk it for everything
I've said what I said and you know what I mean
But I can't still focus on anything

well, dramamine is used in dimenhydrinate, which is a crystalline antihistaminic compound (C24H28ClN5O3) used especially to prevent nausea. i think he's talking about a girl and how she makes him sick or he's sick because the relationship isn't working out, so he's "travelling, swallowing dramamine". that's just my two cents. :)

m0rphic is correct in his information. dimenhydrinate is sold in antihistamines and in motion sickness pills (i believe in higher concentration for motion sickness). when taken in large amounts (UNSAFE) it causes hallucinogetic experiences. the whole song seems tripped out. the lines "i can't focus on anything" and "look at your face like you're killed in a dream" both seem to have been influenced by taking the drug. of course, there's probably more to it than that. the line "we kiss on the mouth but still cough down our sleeves" means (to me) that in a relationship, often times the good is shared while the bad is kept hidden, which isn't really the best way to go about it. i don't know. i'm a moron.

I think that Isaac Brock is a fucked up individual who could just as easily be talking about a car crash rather than a relationship. Oh well...I guess it holds some obscure significance to him...not quite sure what that is. My favorite song has to be "Life Like Weeds", which doesnt explain why this comment isn't on that song...oh well, it makes as much sense as his lyrics.

Even without the lyrics it's still an amazing instrumental. Beautiful, quiet, pensive.

dramamine does treat nausea and motion sickness and can cause hallucinations. i think its about sum guy who was traveling took a little xtra pills and caused this whole tripping expierience. my guess

This song does have something to do with dramamine but i think it's about life it's self it makes him feel nauseated and the only thing to help him steady his mind due to this fucked up world is a drug

Modest Mouse is an amazing band, and this is their best song ever. I like this song more than the entire 'Lonesome Crowded West" album, my third favorite album of all time. This song probably could not be explained by the likes of us, and certainly not in such an stupid forum as this. This song is above and beyond us, and we should all just be glad we ever heard it. Count your life lucky.

Counted as lucky, buddy. What are your first two favorite albums? Have you come to love The Moon and Antarctica yet? When you do, Lonesome Crowded might be bumped. Everyone should check out Coheed and Cambria.

the fact that you mentioned coheed & cambria in this songs forum makes about as much sense as the song itself

so. dramamine. definitly an unpleasant trip. and. if you do it for the tripping affect you lose your vision. you literally cannot focus on anything. it's like you're seeing it from very, very far away. and just the other obvious signs of this song being about travelling and swallowing one too many dramamine.

This song is more about what the first two posters said, its about the different up and down motions of a relationship. (hence needing the anti motion sickness drug dramamine)

Everytime I hear this song I get psuedo-flashbacks to Dramamine trips (NEVER TRY IT), it seems to me that the song is comparing a Dramamine trip (NEVER EVER TRY IT) to a relationship. A lot of the lyrics he uses in the song describes a Dramamine trip well:

"Feeling spaced breathing out listerine
I'd said what I'd said that I'd tell ya"

"I've said what I'd said and you know what I mean
But I still can't focus on anything"

Those lyrics describe perfectly what a Dramamine trip is like, you can't focus, you get paranoid, and you have your own alternate reality and get pissed at people for not understanding it. I think the song is relating this experience in some ways to a relationship--a lack of understanding, an inability to focus, being pissed for someone not understanding. Final thoughts: Never ever, ever take Dramamine for the purpose of getting high, it really, really fucks with your head and makes you dumb.

jesus, don't put so much weight on dramamine. people who get motion sickness in airplanes take it, therefore he's "traveling swallowing dramamine."

brock was plenty stoned when he wrote most of the album. just enjoy it. it doesn't mean much.
