Originally I was thinking that this song might only be about one person reflecting on who they really want to be but not doing anything about it.

He never could get it right and be who he wanted to be because everything had to be handfed to him. He had no motivation and now he's somewhere he doesn't want to be but doesn't realize it's his own fault he's there.

He's thinking about who he deep down wants to be - that "perfect" guy who does everything right. Somehow that means nothing to him though so he doesn't push to become that person.

He's stuck and not doing anything to change his current state, only waiting for someone else to do it for him. Until then he will continue to wallow in disappointment, pain, and regret.

He's not going to make an effort. Just going to watch everything go wrong but that's just fine because it's nothing new. There will be time to fix it all later.

The person he wants to be is right inside him, he just has to look for it in himself. He's capable of being the guy who he wants and needs and wishes to be but the apathy still overpowers him.
Once I sat down and read the lyrics I saw it from the take of a guy who wants a girl he's close to but who doesn't seem to notice or care even though he's right there. Just thought I'd share my original thoughts anyways.
