She plays wipeout on the drums
The squirrels and the birds come
Gather around to sing the guitar
Oh I, have you got nothing to say

When all words fail she speaks
Her mix tape's a masterpiece
Walks through the garden
So the roses can see
Oh I, have you got nothing to say
And you can see the daisies
In her footsteps
Dandelions, butterflies
I want to be Kate

Everyday she wars the same thing
I think she smokes pot
She's everything I need, She's everything I'm not
Oh I,
Have you got nothing to say

She never gets wet
She smiles and it's a rainbow
And she speaks and she breathes
I want to be Kate

Down by the Rosemary and Cameron
She hands out the
Bhagaved Gita
I see her around every couple days
I want to meet her so that
I can say, hey Kate

General Comment:Might not add to the meaning much, but someone released a Kate Bush cover album called ' I Wanna Be Kate', obviously from this song. Trivia!

General Comment:Lovely song but unfortunately it brings back some bad memories from an acquaintance called Kate who had the hots for me, and had adopted this as her theme song (our mutual love of Ben Folds Five was got us talking in any depth in the first place). I did not have the hots for her sadly, and I also had a girlfriend, and things got awkward.

Side note: Every day she wears the same thing, she smokes, and she never gets wet... damn this girl must smell terrible! She's so filthy in fact that plants grow where she treads!

General Comment:It's always nice hearing a song that centers around someone who shares your name. Maybe that's why I love it so much! I think it's all about wanting to be just like someone who you are totally different from. Maybe this one is about the quiet geek in the corner who secretly wishes to be free-spirited and hippie-esque.

General Comment:I think this song is the reason (well definitely not THE reason) but somehow its why I'm a stoner. My older sister used to play it and i loved it when I was little but totally forgot about it for a long long time, and it came up the other day on random shuffle and i thought, holy shit, this song explains so much. I love this song!!!

General Comment:I remember loving this song when my older sister would play it, but i kinda forgot about it for a long long time. And i just was reminded of it and i think in some weird way this song is the reason (well definitely not THE reason) but why i'm a stoner now. and why i'm the person that I am. Definitely love this song!!

General Comment:Rosemary and Cameron are streets on Chapel Hill campus. They don't actually intersect.

General Comment:I find myself really wanting to be like Kate. Its one of those descriptions I like to think would fit me, but probably doesn't. Also my name isn't Kate. Bummer.
