Lyrics for Take it Easy as interpreted by Demau Senae

Take it Easy Lyrics
Well, I'm running down the road
tryin' to loosen my load
I've got seven women on
my mind,
Four that wanna own me,
Two that wanna stone me,
One says she's a friend of mine
Take It easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels
drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
and take it easy
Well, I'm a standing on a corner
in Winslow, Arizona
and such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed
Ford slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
gonna save me
We may lose and we may win though
we will never be here again
so open up, I'm climbin' in,
so take it easy
Well I'm running down the road trying to loosen
my load, got a world of trouble on my mind
lookin' for a lover who won't blow my
cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
don't let the sound of your own
wheels make you crazy
come on baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
gonna save me, oh oh oh
Oh we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

HERE'S THE MEANING: The seven women represent the seven days of the week!

Four that wanna own me: Work week Mon-Thur
Two that wanna stone me: Fri-Sat
One says she's a friend of mine: Sunday

I just asked this question on my Facebook, so you just cheated!

Looove this song. It's just so good. Apparently Jackson Browne wrote basically the whole song, except Glenn Frey added "It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford / slowin' down to take a look at me," which just pulled the whole song together, so Glenn Frey got to take co-composing credit.

And I agree with everyone else about the meaning... except I don't really think the main focus is polygamy.

this is THE SONG of my life. my favorite song of all time is 'sweet child o' mine' but this is my favorite song when it comes to meaning, because i don't know. just LISTEN TO THE SONG! it makes you wanna punch everybody who's freaking out, and just say "CHILL OUT!" i was just recently in a car wreck and i've been listening to this song... there's so much good in life that it's not worth getting down on it! :) i mean, YOU'RE ALIVE, I'M ALIVE, WHAT MORE COULD WE ASK FOR? you know what i mean!? just take it easy. don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy. lighten up while you still can.. don't even try to understand. just find a place to make your stand, and take it eeeeeeeeassyyyyyy. :) :) :) :) this is the number one feel good song of all time!

Thanks for sharing your dilemma with me. I understand how these things go. I to have similar dilemmas and am like the song by the Eagles called "Take it Easy".

Here are some of the lyrics:

Well, I'm running down the road
tryin' to loosen my load
I've got seven women on
my mind,
Four that wanna own me,
Two that wanna stone me,
*"One says she's a friend of mine"
Take It easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels
drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
and take it easy

I actually have 7 woman interested in me with C and Barb being my highest priority right now, so I understand conflicted feelings and not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings. *"You are a friend of mine", therefore, of course I will promise to be sworn to secrecy and will not tell a soul.

Take it easy. Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy. Awesome!

To me it's all about living in the present moment and not getting jacked up over the small stuff.

Could've saved myself 3 years of therapy if I had actually listened to the lyrics of this song growing up! lol

so open up, I'm climbin' in,

So true... live every moment of your life like it was your last, because you never know when it going to end. And of course "take it easy" is the theme, have fun in your life!

I live in the country and to get home I take this long highway that one either side of the road is just farmers fields, and maybe one lonley gas station 7 miles before the town. And when it rains the fields are green and the sky is thick, and when its sunny the sun hits your arm and its really comfortable. But, when I drive home this is the perfect song, no matter what the weather, it just feels like after a hard day, it preserves your humanity, and gives you a sense of self. I love, its the PERFECT road trip song! Anyways, I think the song is just basically not getting to serious, and staying grounded. Being humble, not starting conflict, and embrassing what you have, even if its not enough. It's hard to find songs like this.

Excellent song. I've been to Winslow, AZ... if you are ever taking I-40 through Arizona, it's a fun little stop.

I once heard a theory about the line:
I've got seven women on my mind,
Four that wanna own me,
Two that wanna stone me,
One says she's a friend of mine

The suggestion was that these were the days of the week. Mon-Thur with hard work, Fri and Sat with partying, and Sunday with church.

An interesting thought.

The poster there (it sounds dubious, but I've read all his posts & am convinced he is genuine) claims that he was a deserter from the Army (and hence was on the run), and worked at the Fillmore West in SF around 67, 68, 69. He met Glen Frey who was taking notes when talking to him (asking about being on the run or whatever), and Glen kept telling him to 'Take It Easy'. He asked for his home town (which was Clarksville, Tennessee, but that worried him - so he asked Glen where the worst town he had ever been was, and Glen said 'Winslow, Arizona'. So he said, use that.

So 'don't blow my cover', is referring to his being on the run from the authorities.

Check out the link to the officialjanis website & read the posts - some great stories (which I think are true).

i prefer jackson browne's version. and if the eagles are credited with the phrase, they shouldn't be. because jackson browne thought it up.

For some reason I always thought that the Eagles coined the phrase "take it easy". Any takers on that?

this song is one of my earliest memories, and to this day it brings up so many good feelings for me... my mom is a truck driver, and on my 4th birthday she took me out with her on her daily run; the twilight of the early morning, crescent moon in the sky, sitting way up in that cab in the passenger seat looking down at all the cars going by in the other lane, and the Eagles Greatest hits '71-'75 playing on the 8-track player, feeling like I was on top of the world... it's one of my fondest memories, and definitely one of my favorite songs ever!

Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey co-wrote this. Jackson Browne began to write it and didn't like it. Glenn asked him if he could finish it and perform it. It worked out for the both of them. I like Browne's version the best actually EVEN THOUGH I LOVE the Eagles and they are my favorite band :)
