What's with these homies, dissin' my girl
Why do they gotta front
What did we ever do to these guysi
That made them so violent
Woo-hoo, but you know I'm yours
Woo-hoo, and I know you're mine
Woo-hoo, and that's for all time

Woo-ee-oo I look just like Buddy Holly
Oh-oh, and you're Mary Tyler Moore
I don't care what they say about us anyway
I don't care 'bout that

Don't you ever fear, I'm always there
I know that you need help
Your tongue is twisted, your eyes are slit
You need a guardian

Woo-hoo, but you know I'm yours
Woo-hoo, and I know you're mine
Woo-hoo, and that's for all time

Woo-ee-oo I look just like Buddy Holly
Oh-oh, and you're Mary Tyler Moore
I don't care what they say about us anyway
I don't care 'bout that

Bang! Bang a knock on the door
another big bang and your down on the floori
Oh no! what do I do?
Don't look know but I lost my shoe
I can't run and I can't kick
What's a matter babe are you feelin' sick?
what's a matter, what's a matter, what's a matter you?
What's a matter babe, are you feelin' blue? oh-oh!

My Interpretation:What's with these homies, dissin' my girl
    Why do they gotta front
What did we ever do to these guysi
    That made them so violent

Rivers has previously stated this song is about an Asian, so this is fairly obvious; because she is Asian, they are persecuting her.

Woo-hoo, but you know I'm yours
    Woo-hoo, and I know you're mine
Woo-hoo, and that's for all time

Regardless of racial differences, they will still be together. And forever will they be together.

Woo-ee-oo I look just like Buddy Holly
Oh-oh, and you're Mary Tyler Moorei
I don't care what they say about us anyway
    I don't care 'bout that

Probably just saying that they aretwo entirely different people, as Buddy Holly was a famous musical guy and Mary Tyle Moore was a television actress, and because of these differences people are saying bad things about them. Rivers, however, doesn't care. This is a hard verse to decipher.

Don't you ever fear, I'm always there
I know that you need help
Your tongue is twisted, your eyes are slit
    You need a guardian

She's fearing hate crimes against her, but he is her "guardian" and will be willing to help. This also states her Asian qualities, as her tongue is twisted because she has an asian accent and Asian people typically hae slit-like eyes.

Woo-hoo, but you know I'm yours
    Woo-hoo, and I know you're mine
Woo-hoo, and that's for all time

    Already talked about this.

Woo-ee-oo I look just like Buddy Holly
Oh-oh, and you're Mary Tyler Moorei
I don't care what they say about us anyway
    I don't care 'bout that

Bang! Bang a knock on the door
another big bang and your down on the floori
Oh no! what do I do?
Don't look know but I lost my shoe
    I can't run and I can't kick
What's a matter babe are you feelin' sick?
    what's a matter, what's a matter, what's a matter you?
What's a matter babe, are you feelin' blue? oh-oh!

By now, the crime against her has been committed; however, Rivers is there to help. With that said, he's fairly ineffective in helping her. As such, he is confused in what to do.Because of this crime, she is awfully sad, and Rivers aasks about this continuously.

General Comment:In an interview Rivers (lead singer of weezer) said that he wrote this because his friends always made fun of his chinease girlfriend because of the way she talked and looked.

General Comment:I think it's just about them being the complete opposite, him being a bit of a reject (Buddy Holly) and her being popular (Mary Tyler Moore).. So people look down on them being together, with her being out of his league, but the song shows how he couldn't care less about what people think of them being together, because they love eachother.
    Something like that anyways..

General Comment:I don't think I can add anything interpretation-wise that hasn't already been said, but I DO think the song is genius! Especially the beginning...no musical lead-in, just the heavy-hitting rock guitar, the singer's voice all do-wop folksie white-bread, and the slang lines "Why all these homies dissin' my girl?/Why do they gotta front?" lol..hilarious, and a freakin' masterpiece!

General Comment:The "bang bang" stuff isn't meant to be taken literally. It's just a metaphor for the persecution and discrimination that Rivers and his friend had to endure in high school. Once you've Rivers' explanation, the meaning becomes a whole lot clearer.

But the mention of Buddy Holly is more confusing. He could be playing on the popular image of the 1950s as a simpler, more innocent time. Or he could be referring to the rigid conformist attitude that dominated 50s society, where a mixed-race couple or even friendship wouldn't have been socially accepted. Or it could just be that Buddy Holly looks like a nerd.

Whatever, all I know is this song is awesome. It's one of the theme songs of my life, and it's also the first Weezer song I ever heard.

General Comment:Fantastic song about protecting a friend he had in high school who was always bullied. Weezer is one of my all-time favorite artists, I could listen to them for days whithout getting sick of them. Kudos to Weeze.
