maybe the relationship has to end because the timing isn't right and you tell yourself:"Oh, it wouldn't work anyway and I have to get over it." but deep inside you know that when you see that special person again, you will feel the same and that tears you apart.
in my special occasion it's about not living in the same city and supposably we never will...but maybe someday comes again...
but when you see the person:

I was watching Mad TV and this song came on. I liked it enough to buy a few of their Cd's.
This is far from being their best song (IMO ofcourse) but I'm glad i heard it that night.

this is what i ALWAYS go through. sometimes even before it's started...i just don't feel the same way. and want it to be over, even if it was what i'd wanted for so long. maybe i just like being discontent.
