You and me
We used to be together
Every day together always

I really feel
That I'm losing my best friend
I can't believe
This could be the end

It looks as though you're letting go
And if it's real,
Well I don't want to know

Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts

Our memories
They can be inviting
But some are altogether
Mighty frightening

As we die, both you and I
With my head in my hands
I sit and cry

Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts no no no
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
And I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts

It's all ending,
I gotta stop pretending who we are...

You and me
I can see us dying... are we?

Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts no no
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
And I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts
I know what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't speak don't speak don't speak
No I know what you're thinking
And I don't need your reasons
I know you good I know you good
I know you real good oh

La la la la la la la la la
Don't don't ooh ooh
Hush hush darling
Hush hush darling
Hush hush don't tell me 'cause it hurts
Hush hush darling
Hush hush darling
Hush hush don't tell me 'cause it hurts

    General Comment:this song is about gwen's break up with tony. she said so in interviews. she wrote some of the lyrics on his computer when it was obvious that he wanted to break up with her. i think the fruit in the video is a reference to their relationship b/c it was forbidden fruit for any of the male band members to date gwen, but then one did....and it was bound to complicated...and was.

    General Comment:This song makes me think about how I felt on Tuesday night of last week. My boyfriend had broken up with me out of the blue over text message and it was 5 pages long. It would have been different if he was texting me then said, "hey I need to talk to you." No, he didn't even say that. I just got the 5 page text out of the blue while I was going to grab dinner. He wanted me to call him, but I wouldn't do it (I am 18 and he is 23 by the way). I told him there was no point. I didn't want to talk about it further because it would hurt too much. He thought I was being immature, but no, I was really being mature because I didn't want to beg, I wanted to let him go because that is what he really wanted. Whenever I hear this song, it makes me think about that night I was wanting to say "shut up and leave me alone don't tell me because it hurts!"

    My Interpretation:I think this song is about a fallout in a relationship or friendship. Someone that was very close to her-maybe a best friend, boyfriend, or crush. They used to be inseparable but now the relationship is falling out and isn't like how it was. Maybe they argued too much, had too many differences, there was a fight or they just stopped talking to each other for whatever reason... maybe they just couldn't find the time. She thinks he/she is just letting go of everything they had together, and he/she is trying to explain to her that the friendship/relationship isn't succeeding or going anywhere. She doesn't want to hear it because a) she wants to continue pretending like their relationship will one day be fixed or like it wasn't even broken in the first place and b) she already knows what he is going to say and she doesn't need a drawn out speech about how they have fallen out because it hurts hearing him talk about it. (If this is about a crush, perhaps he is telling her that he doesn't feel the same way about her, and she doesn't want to hear what he has to say because it hurts so much.) Then she starts to look back on all the memories they had. Some make her want to go back to the friendship (assuming that it's all over now) and some are just bad memories she doesn't even want to remember. Maybe it was them arguing. She realizes near the end of the song that what they had is forever gone and she has to stop pretending like something is still there. Their relationship has come to an end... (also, I think this could be about him cheating on her, and she says she doesn't need his reasons or explanations, she just doesn't want him to talk to her because she is in so much pain about him cheating on her... just a thought)

    My Interpretation:I have a personal interpretation for this song. This song expresses perfectly what I felt.
    There was a guy, who changed my life. He was my soul brother, I felt alive again. But I didn’t have any other feelings for him than platonic. For a long time I tried to ignore the fact that he was falling in love with me. But some day even I could see it and I could feel that he wanted to tell me madly. I started to avoid him, because I didn’t want to lose my best friend. I didn’t want him to speak about it, because I thought that was the only way things could stay the same.
    He told me and things changed. But they were already different.
    I know that the emotional situation was and is worse for him, but I was really hurt, too.

    General Comment:This song was originally written by her brother- It seemed to forshadow her current situation at the time with her relationship- her band.

    //I can see us dying... are we? //

    In the music video there is a Garden of Edan feel, living in paradise not in reality. These conditions can make things painful when reality throws you a curve ball. Awarness is very important and living in la la land can kill your core being if your not ready.

    //Our memories
    They can be inviting
    But some are altogether
    Mighty frightening//

    She already knows the ugly truth and won't allow it to swallow her up

    //Don't speak//
    //I can't believe//
    //Well I don't want to know//
    //Don't tell me 'cause it hurts no no no//

    Again she dosen't want anything sugar coated but yet refuses to listen to all the painful words -she has reached her limit.

    //And I don't need your reasons
    Don't tell me 'cause it hurts
    It's all ending,
    I gotta stop pretending who we are... //

    General Comment:I think it means that a guy broke up with her and she can't believe it, so she's telling him not to speak. She's heartbroken.

    General Comment:she doesnt want to accept that her partner is finishing with her, and by telling them to not speak, she wants to carry on pretending everything is ok. but later on in the song, reality hits her and she understands that they can no longer be together
