Lyrics for Guerilla Radio as interpreted by piesupreme

Guerilla Radio Lyrics
Transmission third world war third round
A decade of the weapon of sound above ground
No shelter if youre looking for shade
I lick shots at the brutal charade
As the polls close like a casket
On truth devoured
Silent play in the shadow of power
A spectacle monopolized
The cameras eyes on choice disguised
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?
Yes a spectacle monopolized
They hold the reins, stole your eyes
All the fistagons the bullets and bombs
Who stuff the banks
Who staff the party ranks
More for Gore or the son of a drug lord
None of the above fuck it cut the cord

Lights out guerilla Radio
Turn that shit up

Contact I highjacked the frequencies
Blockin the beltway
Move on DC
Way past the days of bombin MCs
Sound off Mumia guan be free
Who gottem yo check the federal file
All you pen devils know the trial was vile
Army of pigs try to silence my style
Off em all out that box its my radio dial

Lights out guerilla Radio
Turn that shit up

It has to start somewhere
It has to start sometime
What better place than here
What better time than nowAll hell cant stop us now
All hell cant stop us nowAll hell cant stop us now
All hell cant stop us now
All hell cant stop us now
All hell cant stop us now

this is to nothingface555 you sound like a lil schoolgirl, grow up the fuck up and if you don't like rage egt the fuck off this site and go look at other 'song meanings' cause if you don't listen to them you obviously don't look into rage's lyrics and i don't know what you are getting on with repetitive..i love punk man but a lot of its repetitive itself..thers only so many political issues to talk about and i'm pretty sure zach's point of view and opinion is better than any punk around.

Rage has got to be one of my all time favorite bands out there. They should really get back together and get rid of audioslave because it is a boring band with boring sound.

2 nothingface well i hav 2 say this that ur wrong about rage their debut was rite and it would b gd if they didnt always focus on politcal issues but its still gd and renegades isnt focused so much on politics as its all covers or written by others. but its still awsum music and they r extremely talented but i do agree that punk bands and tht political. FUCK AUTHORITY is neither original or inspiring, there r some political punk bands such as the legendary clash but just remeber RAGE ROCK!

Tom responding to hypocracy complaints: "When you live in a capitalistic society, the currency of the dissemination of information goes through capitalistic channels. Would Noam Chomsky object to his works being sold at Barnes & Noble? No, because that's where people buy their books. We're not interested in preaching to just the converted. It's great to play abandoned squats run by anarchists, but it's also great to be able to reach people with a revolutionary message, people from Granada Hills to Stuttgart. "

-Transmission third world war third round
See: Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War

-As the polls close like a casket
United states closed elecions in Korea and Vietnam because we knew the commies would win

-The cameras eyes on choice disguised
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?
The media is controlled by the rich, whose investments include oil See: Bush family

-Sound off Mumia guan be free
Who gottem yo check the federal file
All you pen devils know the trial was vile
The Mumia Abu-Jabar trial was rigged through coercion among other things

All the things that need to be explained. If you can't figure out the rest, go back to SOAD.

blackbirdswives did a great interpretation of the song. When rage says "More for Gore or the son of a drug lord" They are talking about Al Gore and because George Bush Sr. allowed the CIA to sell drugs that makes George Bush jr. the son of the drug lord

yo i think that part of the reson that zach left was cuz the band was starting to become more main stream and becoming the thing that they where against and that is part of the reason that he left that is what i think

For a band to become like what SOAD and all the others you see the albums of, you need talent. SO, you can't be 'average' or 'standard' because... hell. You made it this far, why stop being different now?
ANYWAY, time to decipher this Song piece by piece.
Transmission, third world war third round - This is the third, watch your back.
A decade of weapon of sound above ground - this aint the first time the message has been spread.
No shelter if your looking for shade - Theres no where to hide.
I lick shots at the brutal charade - I hold no punchs.
As the polls close like a casket, - Everything will come to an end.
on truth devoured, - The truth is eaten and transformed into what THEY Want.
Silent play in the shadow of power, - it's there, just hidden.
A spectacle monopolized, - we're making a big deal over a spectacle, (aka, speck)
The camera's eyes on choice disguised, - the media shows us few people
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil? - Was it done for the ones who risk their lives?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil? - Or for nothing but human greed.
Yes a spectacle, Monopolized - We're making a big deal over nothing
They took the reign's, stole your eyes - They took control and robbed you of your vision to the truth.
All the fistagons, the bullets & bombs - The pentagon and army
Who stuff the banks - This is all making someone rich
Who staff the party ranks - Who throw all the famous parties
More for Gore or the son of a Drug Lord - Celebrities and Criminals control everything
None of the above, fuck it, cut the cord. - No, reject this, remove yourself from this idiocy.
thats just the first half, tell me what you think?

how about everyone shut the fuck up and discuss the meaning of the song. this is songmeanings.net after all not isrageagoodband.com. so nothingface doesn't like rage and everyone else does, big whoop. with all that's going on these days in this country and others, and Rage recently getting back together at Coachella, i think this is a great time to discuss their songs and their meanings. The reason I came to this song is because I saw footage of them playing it live at Coachella and it was great seeing everyone screaming "all hell can't stop us now" it was very inspiriting. and i think thats what rage wanted with this song, to unite and stand up for a common purpose, not fight over who's a "good" or "bad" band. so everyone calm the hell down and just talk about the music. if you don't like the band then don't post anything, or go to another forum that deals with discussing bands, this is just for songmeanings, not rage's official message board. with that said...WHAT DOES THIS SONG MEAN TO YOU ALL!??!?!?!

Well said.. I for one would like to know what this song is about..

but, to put in my two cents worth...
Nothingface, you are an asswipe... kind of. I can understand how you would get tired of distortion, and if you don't like rage? Fine, but don't rip on people's musical taste by saying 'all their songs sound the same', because most people interpret that as "You only listen to the same shit music all the time"
All in all though, you're pretty much an asswipe.

everybody stop voiceing your opinions. good for you for having them but i honestly dont care. just stick with how you feel abou the song not how you feel about other bands or how much you love punk. just explain the song through your eyes and just dont be a dickfuck.

Now this song is about how america always trys for more and is powered by greed and the richer greeder people. also how our government is getting really fucked up. basicly this song is about how rage is trying to start a revolution through the airwaves to keep america right and serve the people more and also more help other countries more. not just the rich people. thanks

I want to try and play the guitar solo on a harmonica.

Nothing is wrong with people voicing their opinions as long as they're not assholes about it.

Tom Morello seems to support Barack Obama, as said in an interview: 'Well Barack Obama and I weirdly have a lot in common. We both have Kenyan fathers, white American mothers, we’re both from Illinois, we’re both Harvard graduates and we’re both devastatingly handsome. Having said that, there’s really not too much to say about the other ’08 candidates.'

The title basically says RATM's general message of what their music has always been about- fighting the system using words and music as their weapons. The song was written around the time of the 2000 election and that's what it's mostly about. The line "none of the above, cut the cord", in my opinion, means Zack didn't really like either Gore or Bush. Gore was a liar, and Bush was his stubborn self all through the debates. It's interesting how they refer to the election as a spectacle, because that's exactly what it ended up being, with Florida and the recount.

Regarding the Mumia reference, what does "guan" mean? And this is the one thing I'm getting tired of hearing in RATM's songs. I still love their music, but there are some messages I don't agree with. So cop killers should be free? The trial may have been unfair, but if I'm not mistaken, the bullet was registered to Mumia's gun and witnesses said he shot the cop.

RATM is an outstanding band
The music is very good
The rhymes are verrry good
im a fan BUT
the message in there lyrics is ALWAYS the same
theyre just angry on society not being specific, theyre very vague... just like many other punk bands (pennywise which is ALSO a great band) but thats just the thing thats irritating me
all those contra bands have to produce something original, specific as message...
Revolution, anarchy, anger has their causes and theyre not finding them but only producing a worthless "counter"culture of people who call themselfs "nonconformists"
i think kiddos hypnotised by this nonsensemessages are just phonies and might be listening to korn, my chemical romance, ... too
RATM says: open your eyes, but i say - again - open your eyes, their message has nothing to offer, its not constructive
anyway, enjoy their great music

Pennywise is pretty good, my favorite political band is Bad Religion.

This song is about the 2000 elections and about using the radio to broadcast their message.

RATM is a very important band for this time. Their music and message is perhaps even more relevant today than it was all those years ago. I'm afraid that what they were protesting against and perhaps even trying to pre-empt is now coming to fruition... and we've got ourselves to blame.

Hopes not lost though. Fighting back was never easy, but it can and should be done.
