Lyrics for Guerilla Radio as interpreted by piesupreme

Guerilla Radio Lyrics
Transmission third world war third round
A decade of the weapon of sound above ground
No shelter if youre looking for shade
I lick shots at the brutal charade
As the polls close like a casket
On truth devoured
Silent play in the shadow of power
A spectacle monopolized
The cameras eyes on choice disguised
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?
Yes a spectacle monopolized
They hold the reins, stole your eyes
All the fistagons the bullets and bombs
Who stuff the banks
Who staff the party ranks
More for Gore or the son of a drug lord
None of the above fuck it cut the cord

Lights out guerilla Radio
Turn that shit up

Contact I highjacked the frequencies
Blockin the beltway
Move on DC
Way past the days of bombin MCs
Sound off Mumia guan be free
Who gottem yo check the federal file
All you pen devils know the trial was vile
Army of pigs try to silence my style
Off em all out that box its my radio dial

Lights out guerilla Radio
Turn that shit up

It has to start somewhere
It has to start sometime
What better place than here
What better time than nowAll hell cant stop us now
All hell cant stop us nowAll hell cant stop us now
All hell cant stop us now
All hell cant stop us now
All hell cant stop us now

ok rage against the machine were a great band and tom morello is one of the greatest guitarists of the 90s, now they have politcal messages and if you like you can narrow it down and say that their just saying fuck authority but that i think is shallow minded and fairly obvious. I wouldnt ask you to define a tool song cos you would probably have a mental breakdown of some sort.

ChrissyTina -you can't be more wrong!! You said: "If you don't like the USA get the fuck out of our country...instead of trying to change things." How are things supposed to change for the better if there aren't people "bitchin'" about injustices around this country? Isn't democracy a gov't Of the People, By the People and For the People? And those People can't just idly sit by and let things happen. The voice of dissent is patriotic. I hate to break it to you, but America isn't perfect. We need social change to happen now, and one person can make a difference. That is exactly what this song says:

It has to start somewhere
It has to start sometime
What better place than here
What better time than now
All hell can't stop us now

And by the way Fuck Authority is the stupidest issue I've ever heard, especially in relation to this song. Rage isn't against authority per se, they're against unjust authority and exploitation. There is a difference.

In regards to the whole "fuck authority" message coming from RATM; whilst it is true that a lot of bands these days seem to be on this anti-establishment bandwagon, there is one very important difference here with Rage. They don't simply tell people to doubt everything and rebel against all authority, they make damn good points and then say WHY. Three important things: what, how and why. Not just this lame "fuck school" or "America sucks" bullshit. Down The Flag are a good example of what people SHOULD be saying rather than just bitching about what they don't like and not backing it up. Watch the RATM DVD's and you'll begin to see that Zach de la Rocha and Tom Morello aren't basing their band's message on the elementary teen angst premise of making their own rules.

The only negative thing the band ever did in my view was inspire a whole generation of Che Guevara supporters, toting Communist ideals but with absolutely no idea what the whole deal is about. Good on RATM for giving hope to the lesser of our rebellious tendencies, however.

Personally I like distorted Guitar. Another thing, many bands can start their own record label, like Les Claypool from Primus. RATM (was) is and always will be an awesome band! People can like and dislike whatever they want, so nobody should complain. But as humans, we do complain, we do fight, and just it's our nature to be this way. So when people don't live up to the ideals of a perfect society and follow blindly after everyone else, we shouldn't get pissed.
P.S. wasn't the whole point to discuss what the song was about?

A friend of mine was once approached by a stranger because he was wearing an original RAGE shirt - a maroon one from their tour in '97, if that sounds familiar - and the stranger asked "do you like them for the lyrics or the aggression?" This was 2000.
I think RAGE is often misread because people are ignorant to their message. As well as their actions. I really miss them, but at the same time, their songs never get old to me. They are inspiring. There are no other songs like them in existance, so to say they are punk or anti-establishment is too general. They are RAGE, that's all. And i miss them.
As for this song, it brings back original themes in their music about the lack of true democracy in the U.S. - the voting system doesn't work, and the only choices we have are to live and die, and along the way, what to buy. The media is owned by SIX corporations. They are not telling us what we need to know, and that is why I miss RAGE - they really pointed this out. To the background of GREAT FUCKING guitar and drums I might add. IF the sound got repetitive, my personal interpretation is that they were attempting to emmulate the way we are constantly baraged with repetitive media messages to buy, acquire, assimilate, consume, and profit.
peace, and reply, please. -sbk

Hey man. Honestly, im from Singapore and i feel totally that way.
though we are somewhat well-to-do here, the music of RATM is awesome. Inspiring me countless times as i agree with most of what you say.

With regard to GUERRILLA RADIO 's video, i believe that it was actually a whole different wideo and that the girl shopping for clothes was added in (by RAGE) cause the original content was too politically irate for MTV yet RAGE wanted it played so did that measure.

Note: THIS IS TOTALLY MY OWN OPINION. No Rumours are required, please.

Good Luck To All and Merry Anarchism

nah you're not the only one "hip".
i cant stand chris cornell but we have to accept the fact that audioslave was not formed to play rage type songs
that's tha actual problem with fans like us...
we think that when someone/or a group reforms, the have to play similarly as their previous band which is selfish on our part
i resent audioslave's lame vocal tone but respect the fact that the ratm members there decided to form a new music band to keep the "SOUL POWER" andnot just disband and live on our RAGE love and memories.

This is one of the best songs by rage against the machine, tom morello does a fuckin ridiculous job on guitar, zachs lyrics, although rappis are very meaniful, third world war third round......you guys couldn't think of that genius EVER, and dont tell me fuck authority is a meaningful political song, and to nothingface555, learn your shit, i think nothing face is repeditive, with the exception of ether, so dont talk like you know shit, and for the record, the basist in ratm has the coolest tattoo's ever

This song is mainly focused on Muia. The first part is about the goverment's secrets "choice disquised". Also he sings about the gov. dark ambition and "need" for money and war. More for Gore or tha son of a drug lord " there he is talkin about money. 1 thing I don't get is the chorus. But the 2nd verese is strongly focused on Muia."All u pin devils know the trial was vile" means they know Muia was not guilty

I think Anti-Flag is doing a great job continuing what RATM started and continued until they broke up.

Anti-Flag is like the......"Punk" Version of Rage.
They Helped the the thing with Pelteir and Mumia Abu Jamal. and some idiot said "whose Mumia Guan"
Guan is gonna. moron. " Sound Off, Mumia gonna be free"

and another idiot is talking about slipknot being some generic band. thats wrong. they are all original. Linkin Park was too. on their 1st album. that is. they went generic on meteora.

and it hurts that you say all punk bands. that hurts. you SHOULDVE said all Punk-Pop bands..

and to kezband if i got what your saying correctly about audioslave and things like that. i think your right. but im still not sure what you ment.

and oh yeah

Nothingface555

you are one arrogent bastard.

ok man first is fucking first, arguing about Rage Against the Machine on the internet is the most retarded thing i have ever seen, second of all, fuck athiority? what the fuck kinda bands do you know? the fuck athroirty was fun when Iggy Pop was with the Stooges, now it seems like almost all "punk" bands, or if that's what you want to call them, are just talking about their girl friends and how long they havn't been fucked. Blink 182 is considered punk and all they do is fucking telling us how much he misses his girl friend from high school, boo fucking hoo. yeah rage against the machine is fucking awesome i say that much, but i can agree with you on one thing, the politacal shit is old. i don't care if they have a few songs about how much they hate america and how it's a horriable nation and shit, but every song i hear now by rage is them talking about america, and american dreams, and how to testify. fucking quit whining. yeah those songs are good but if you listen to them back to back it makes you want to bash your head against your fucking key board.

all i can say is shut your fucking whiny, emo, "i love punk and fucking with people", prep school ass now, it's starting to get on peoples nerves. fucking dork
