Lyrics for A Pillow Of Winds as interpreted by Demau Senae

A Pillow Of Winds Lyrics
The cloud of eiderdown draws around me
softening the sound
sleepy time when I lie with my love by my side
and she's breathing low, and the candle dies

When night comes down you lock the door
the book falls to the floor
as darkness falls and waves roll by
the seasons changed, the wind is warm

Now wakes the owl, now sleeps the swan
behold the dream, the dream is gone
green fields, a cold rain
is falling in a golden dawn

and deep beneath the ground the early morning sounds
and I go down
sleepy time when I lie with my love by my side
and she's breathing low and I rise like a bird
in the haze when the first rays touch the sky
and the night winds die

As noted by my comment on "One of these days" I believe that this is song is about the release most of us have at the end of an extremely stressful day. The stressful day is played out in "One of these days"

To me, its about laying down, falling asleep, and dreaming. I know there's more to it, but i just love playing this song in bed, it makes my imagination go wild for awhile, then relaxes me...

This is BY FAR my favorite Pink Floyd Song of ALL TIME!! It's beautiful and breath-taking and just an amazing amazing song. I do think this song is about a dream and the different stages of night, but I also think it's about being intimate and enjoying the company of your love. Just a great song that will always relax me and take me away.

This song is truly one of the most beautiful songs, and for a long time I didn;t give it the credit it deserved simply because it was on the same album as Echoes (same for most of the songs on the album).

I am not sure exactly what it is about, but it fits in perfectly on Meddle (my favorite album). It was this song, once I finally realized how good it was, that pushed Meddle above Wish You Were Here.

5/5

A GORGEOUS song - I fall to sleep by it (and 'Echoes') almost nightly.

I think it's simply a nice slice of cozy life, someplace we'd all like to be or have been - in a beautiful world you've conjured up in your head because you're in love. The world is magical and sensual and sleepy. It's an idealistic little painting of how perfect the world seems at that moment when you're happy. It's almost like a snapshot of contentment.

'Meddle' is a great album.

I fall asleep to Meddle as well. Easily my favorite Pink Floyd album.

As it is, I happen to write lyrics along the lines of Pink Floyd (but not nearly as good, yet). I usually listen to this album to stimulate my mind. It truly works.

And I agree with your interpretation, FriedPie.

Yes, nothing like a dog singing in key to put you right to sleep. (sorry Seamus, you'll always have a place in my heart)

No. You're wrong. It IS "Sleepy time, when I lie".
It says in the CD booklet.

However, one lyric on the CD booklet reads:

"SLEEPING time, when I lie..."

i do adore this song most of all on the Meddle album. although echoes is wonderfully written, this song is more instrumentally beautiful. listening to this song reminds me of that wonderful time right before you go to sleep with the person you love right next to you. a complete release of stress from the mind. i love you pink floyd

Yeah, Grind, I realized that shortly after I posted, but never had the will to make myself post my error. Thanks for correcting me.

I love this song. Its so soft and yes, i do to fall asleep listening to this along echoes. And I to didn't give it the Credit it deserved because it was on the same cd as Echoes.
I think its simply about sleeping, day ends and night begins with your love. Very beautiful song :)

This song is absolutely beautiful. It is very important to me because my best friend whom recently passed away introduced me to it and every time i hear it, i tear up. The feeling of absolute calm i get when i hear it is amazing.
