Love is a flame that can't be tamed,
And though we are its willing pray, my darling,
We are not the ones to blame

Trust is a word all lovers know,
The glorious art of staining souls, my darling,
We are not the ones to blame

The more we have, the more we want,
And the more it hurts our heart, my baby,
It always ends up in tears

So keep on Pretending
Our heaven's worth the waiting
Keep on Pretending
It's all right
So keep on Pretending
It will be the end of our craving
Keep on Pretending
It's all right

When doubts arise the game begins
The one we will never win, my baby,
It always ends up in tears

So keep on Pretending
Our heaven's worth the waiting
Keep on Pretending
It's all right
So keep on Pretending
It will be the end of our craving
Keep on Pretending
It's all right (c'mon) c'mon

So keep on Pretending
Our heaven's worth the waiting
Keep on Pretending
It's all right
So keep on Pretending
It will be the end of our craving
Keep on Pretending
It's all right

Love is a flame that can't be tamed,
And though we are its willing pray, my darling,
We are not the ones to blame

General Comment:in this song hes talking about how he fell in love and how they were both victims to the fate of how they were not ment to be together and that they ignored their problems by lying to themselves that everything is alright...

General Comment:Ok thismay sound weird but this song reminds me oof a crush i had on a guy in high school. i used to ppretend that even though he love my best friend i could ignore it and everything would be fine, but pretending is not always the best way to overcome something.

General Comment:I agree, HearMeWhisper. That's the meaning I like best, actually, but I didn't think anyone else could see it that way, 'cause many HIM fans are extremely touchy and closed-minded about the relationship between religion and HIM. Glad to see someone making the connection.

No matter what this song means--and it's so ambiguous it could mean a thousand different things equally--I honestly believe that this song is a masterpiece, and can only pray that the band'll make more with such craft in the future.

One thing that I love is that it is circular. The image Valo gives us in the beginning, he returns to for the finishing of the song. It recalls many writings in Ancient Greece that would use the same format, to emphasize the importance of the image for the meaning of the text.
The song is also amazing in its minimalism--it is just astounding that so much ambiguity (and yet solid meaning) could be gathered from so few lines, in repetition.
When I read these lyrics I often feel like I'm reading cryptic wisdom from some ancient religious text... gosh it's so good!!

General Comment:I think this song could mean different thing to different people. No one knows why Vallo wrote this song. But this song means (for me at least) that we have to deal with the shit here on earth to reach our erternal Heaven, that is worth the waiting. This is taken from a Catholic view.

General Comment:I love how Valo lies about what his songs mean so he won't turn off the majority of his audience. It's especially funny when the lyrics OBVIOUSLY mean something very different from what he says they mean.
I've heard him claim that this is just a cute little pop ditty, and I've heard him claim that this is about not having to pretend to be something you're not when you're with your friends.

What this song seems to be about is giving in to your desires, because it is irrational not to. Specifically, this seems aimed at premarital sex. If one person is waiting for marriage and doing everything but intercourse ("the more we have, the more we want") then it becomes painful to wait ("and the more it hurts our hearts"). And the speaker wonders, why bother squashing your desires and waiting for marriage ("keep on pretending our heaven's worth the waiting"), when you can't know that this person will be right for you sexually just because you're married ("keep on pretending it will be the end of our craving")? It's a rather bitter song!

    Good stuff.

General Comment:IF you ignorant fucks could read he clearly says " women is usually a dream killer.". Putting emphasis on USUALLY. Does that account for all cases? No? So even if he really is sexist you have no right to call him that because he hasnt given us solid proof in his response. Lines are USUALLY long at the amusement park. Think about it

General Comment:I dont necessarily believe Pheromonic is being sexist(i could be wrong) I think he's just giving an example of what can happen and then applying it to the song meaning. I definitely dont believe all women are like that, but there are tons that are sadly.
