Lyrics for Adam's Song as interpreted by piesupreme

Adam's Song Lyrics
I never thought I'd die alone
I laughed the loudest who'd have known?
I traced the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all
I took my time, I hurried up
The choice was mine I didn't think enough
I'm too depressed to go on
You'll be sorry when I'm gone

I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over, We'd survived
I couldnt wait til I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

I never thought I'd die alone
Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to my friends
You'll never set foot in my room again
You'll close it off, board it up
Remember the time I spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall
Please tell mom this is not her fault

I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over, We'd survived
I couldnt wait til I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

I never conquered, rarely came
Tomorrow just holds such better days
Days when I can still feel alive
When I cant wait to get outside
The world is wide, the time goes by
The tour is over, I survived
I can't wait 'til I get home
To pass the time in my room alone

This is an amazing song. I guess it means a lot to me cuz I went through exactlly the same thing the kid in the song goes through, so I know what it feels like. Yeah, it makes me feel stupid in a way, but it just feels good to know that someone cares enough to sit down and write a song about it. So it kinda let's you know, that you're really not that alone. That probably wont make any sense to a lot of people, but oh well. Those are just my thoughts.

This has to be Blink's greatest song ever. It is rich in meaning and there's not a time when i listen to it, that it brings hope back into my mind. For what is life without hope? Blink's spark of musical genius is hown through this song. I wish, though, that some of these faggoty bigots who say anything bad about this song would get a tree fallen on their heads. Because their fucking stupid pricks who don't know jack.

This us one of my all time favorite songs, I really don't understand this. I hate punk, I hate pop even more, but this song just sticks out. It's probably about one of the band's friends killing himself....someone told me that the lyrics were actually a note that he left before he did the deed.

Adam's Song has just the right amount of lyrics and just the right music to sing them to. I don't think that it could have been done any more perfect. Thanks

this is one of my fave songs along with stay togther for the kids. I think this song has a different meaning to everyone and they can interpret it any way they want because they are their own person and dont diss them because of what they think they could just as easily do the same to you but they are being considerate and not. it is a beautiful song and i will never forget it

This song is just amazing! The incredible build-up to the final chorus, and the overly depressing yet somehow soothing lyrics invade my senses and make me thankful that I'm not a bitter/depressed/hopeless teen who has to kill him/herself to make a statement... and to those who are, that's too bad, there is hope!

Jesus christ you people. Can't anyone say anything about blink without 70 billion people jumping on them and arguing whether or not they sold out? No one cares what you think of them, people would like to know what the song MEANS. Thats why it's called SONGMEANINGS.NET

Regardless of what concrete things this song might be referring to, I tend to interpret in abstract. When I first listened to "the tour was over," I thought of myself as a little kid, visiting the outside world, when it seems like an alien tour. All I wanted to do was go back home to pass the time in your room alone, with your toys. This is a song about profound sadness. It is not optimistic; that last stanza is a trite shift in emphasis. I can see why young people might commit suicide to this song. Its nostalgic tone is TOO effective in evoking emotions.
