Lyrics for Adam's Song as interpreted by piesupreme

Adam's Song Lyrics
I never thought I'd die alone
I laughed the loudest who'd have known?
I traced the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all
I took my time, I hurried up
The choice was mine I didn't think enough
I'm too depressed to go on
You'll be sorry when I'm gone

I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over, We'd survived
I couldnt wait til I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

I never thought I'd die alone
Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to my friends
You'll never set foot in my room again
You'll close it off, board it up
Remember the time I spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall
Please tell mom this is not her fault

I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over, We'd survived
I couldnt wait til I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

I never conquered, rarely came
Tomorrow just holds such better days
Days when I can still feel alive
When I cant wait to get outside
The world is wide, the time goes by
The tour is over, I survived
I can't wait 'til I get home
To pass the time in my room alone

All comments on Blink's legitimacy aside, I love this song. The thing is, I thought it was just supposed to be a pop radio song. When someone told me it was about suicide I almost laughed. Frankly, the song feels too trite and euphoric for me to take it seriously as a suicide-themed song and it frankly just doesn't have the lyrical depth for me to buy it as anything more than a pop song. It's clearly written by someone who has no idea what it is like to be suicidal.

Bink was a great band back in the day...they've changed so much since Enema came out. Its really a shame seeing them on MTV constantly....but "Cheshire Cat" was awsome. Seriously...listen to Cheshire, then put on TOYPAJ, it just isnt blink anymore. Oh well i cant change it.....they DID kick ass but now i see fuckin teeny boper girls wearin blink t-shirts, telling me how hott Tom is.....its so fuckin gay. So if you "claim" your a big fan of blink and dont even know any of there stuff before "Enema"...should go fuck off.

Depression really sucks, and some ppl think that I get depressed for attention. First of all, thats not true I am not that twisted to get depressed for attention that is sooo fucked up! well, second id like to say that the only thing that gets me out of depression is God Music and friends. those are the three greatest things in life, and ive just found all three in the past two months. youd think that itd be easy to get over depression, but hearing this song reminds me of the time i used to stay in my room all day doing nothing. you shouldnt say to someone "youre doing that for attention" you should try to make them see the better things in life. and to do that you have to be less fucking shallow and actually worth listening to. So, to all of the ppl depressed out there, 16 or not, lift your head and smile and thank God that youre smart enough like Adam.

The meaning of this song still remains a mistery to me. I have heard that it's about the hardships of tour, and/or about a letter Mark got in a e-mail, the letter was a suicide note the kid wrote to his parents before he comitted suicide.

this song isnt about suicide or apple juice....it is about happy bunnies frolicking through the forest.....while drinking apple juice so i guess that makes it somewhat about apple juice....thank you that will be all

this was definately one of blinks best songs, and i dont understand why everyone trashes it. and to all u fucks who say depression is something that u "just get over" and the ppl who are suicidal are just attention seekers, im here to tell you, from personal experience, that your totally wrong. depression is an illness and u simply cant just "get over it". i attempted suicide to this song coz it comforted me and made me realise that many other ppl give up on life as well. fortunately, or maybe its unfortunatley? i was found in time, and am recovering to this very day. definately one of blinks best songs!

This is one of the best Blink 182 song's I've ever heard. Ever though "punk rock" gets criticized for being Emo, it really does not matter. They are making good music, that people enjoy.

Well I can't say I like blink, hell I hate them...They're starter punk compared to like Pennywise and what not but thats not the issue and no need to start a flame war. Even though I really don't like them this is a really good song...Its all about lonliness and the desire to just get the hell off the world and it means a lot to me right now because I'm in this situation but nonetheless it has a good air to it and what not. will give them credit on this song that its damn good!

This song has good intentions but they still need help with the music. This is one of the few songs i find lyrically decent by blink182.

yur all a bunch of idiots. first of all, mark isnt a poser for writing this song, it was written about a kid that DID commit suicide. second, blink doesnt need any help with music or lyrics, all of their songs are good. and third, blink 182 is the best band ever.
markus rules.

This song is not that good, its not even punk. Its too depressing. Punk is about haveing fun, not givin a shit and beliving in somthing, but none the less i dont think that its about killing yourself. I think that its about making it through bad times.

And mooshkapoo, you are just wrong, Blink is not the best band ever. They used to be alright until they sold out and went mainstream, but now thats all they are, mainstream POP (not punk). Once a bad has a video on MTV they loose the right to call them selfs punk.

there really is no such meaning as punk. punk is dead. and everyone is saying that blink182 sold out which i do not agree with. sure, they're a little more mainstream then they used to be, but look at it this way...if you were in a band, without any type of college degree, are you going to deny fame when it comes to you? get over it. it's called life.

i like blink182 and yes, i'm a 17 year old girl. uh-oh, that must automatically mean that i love the band because i think tom is so sexy and that i only own enema of the state and TOYPAJ. i couldn't give two shits if mark, tom, and travis had no legs and four eyes, just as long as the music is good. and yes, i do own every blink album along with a copy of flyswatter and demos and i believe that this is one of their best songs because it is a positive song about many problems that teenagers have nowadays.

so go ahead, call me a poser or whatever because i like blink182, i'll just laugh at your ignorance then forget about whatever you said, because IT IS JUST MUSIC and your opinions don't matter. all that matters is what i believe.

okay, done with my rant now.

ahh!! who gives a shit whether blink is punk or mainstream or on mtv. WHO CARES. listen to the music, listen to the lyrics. if you don't like what you hear then fine, you just don't like the band but don't give me that shit that you don't like them cos they are on mtv or they went mainstream, that is so prejudiced. Just listen to the music and forget the labels

This is my favorite song of all time. The story goes: Mark read a letter a kid wrote to his parents before he commited suicide, which he had recieved as an email. Blink took that & they're feelings of loneliness on tour & wrote this song. It's really about suicide but it has a happy ending. I can really relate to this song. "I never thought I'd die alone/ I laughed the loudest who'd have known?"
