Lyrics for Adam's Song as interpreted by piesupreme

Adam's Song Lyrics
I never thought I'd die alone
I laughed the loudest who'd have known?
I traced the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all
I took my time, I hurried up
The choice was mine I didn't think enough
I'm too depressed to go on
You'll be sorry when I'm gone

I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over, We'd survived
I couldnt wait til I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

I never thought I'd die alone
Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to my friends
You'll never set foot in my room again
You'll close it off, board it up
Remember the time I spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall
Please tell mom this is not her fault

I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over, We'd survived
I couldnt wait til I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

I never conquered, rarely came
Tomorrow just holds such better days
Days when I can still feel alive
When I cant wait to get outside
The world is wide, the time goes by
The tour is over, I survived
I can't wait 'til I get home
To pass the time in my room alone

rreznor, then why did you bother comming to lyric site if you think that they blow and posting a comment on them? its not cool, no one gives a flying fuck if you think that blow. BUT....i completely agree with you on the depression issue, you are are right, dont talk about it if you dont know what it is. as for you trust in him, i have nothing to say, your comment was extremely uncalled for. you should be damned with the disease of depression so you can feel how fucking horrible it is you mindless fool.

This is stupid. I came from other bands sites where the people actually talk about the real meanings and stories behind the lyrics and songs. And I came to blink because they too sing about real life stories and I was hoping to read an intellegent conversation. Hopefully hear some good meanings behind a good song. Lets see if we can't use this site for what it was originally made for. Take the trash talk to some chat room.

this shows that blink are more than a bunch of immature farting dudes and proves they can be serious and can write their own stuff

Okay, yeah blink is now mainstream, what makes that a bad thing? In fact most ignorant queers figure mainsteam sucks, but because someone is more popular than you doesnt mean you should rag on them. They never sold out, selling out it changing the style of your music to better suit others. They have never ever done that...their music has changed over time just like any artist. And now with Box Car Racer, they're sounding more Emo every day. I mean, pop-punk is the closest thing to emo except that it's faster most times. So when a pop-punk band plays a slow song and the lead singer has a sweet voice (like tom...he's got a great whiny-type voice...perfectly fitting emo), then it sounds pretty emo to me. And I cannot WAIT until the new Box Car Racer album comes out, it's May 15th everone. Get ready for Tom's most Em0-tional band yet :) I'm so psyched for that cd, "I Feel So" is on one radio station here and it's so different from blink's style that i didnt notice it was tom until i heard his voice. Man...he's got such a cool voice, it's about time he used it for a full-on Emo-ish band :) *wonders how many thousand people will disagree with his emo/blink/box car theory*

You`re all wrong. I saw an interveiw and Mark wrote the song when a kid whod took his life emailled him the letter coz he was a huge blink fan. He says its a mixture of that story and how lonely he feels when he`s on tour

Yeah... Shortman... All you guys who think they're posers should read my post on all the small things... This song is so great... No matter what it's about... (even though I did hear what Sampo said, but mostly about his lonliness during the tour)... This is probably their best song to date...

All blink fans should let lamas4sale know what they think!!! I'd say lamas4sale is just jealous of a bloody good band making it bugtime. Anywayz payout this lamas4sale wanker.
I'll be waiting for your comments on lamas4sale.

i agree. i hate the word "poser" it's pointless, meaningless and stupid. this song is actually a really good song even if some people think blink 182 "sold out" i've been into blink182 for five years and although their style has changed some i still think of them exactly the same.

yeah, there was a guy who was at that columbine high school where the shootings happened a couple years ago. Apparently he was a really popular guy but he hung himself in his garage with this song on repeat. Crazy stuff, i mean yeah the song is depressing but i mean it does start 'cheering up' at the end and to have this push you over the edge is kind of a disheartening thought....

i'd just like to say that strongly agree emo kid (near the top) You can't dis a group just because of how its categorized, because that makes you just as much a poser as the ppl that listen to the music because its mainstream. Intsead of posing as a popular person, your trying to pose as some kind of rebel, or "freak/individualist" Just be yourself man, thats all, just because a song is mainstream doesnt mean it sucks, and just because a song isnt mainstream doesnt make it good. That pisses me off when ppl try to pose as the "i am my own person" and then they go and make decisions based on how the other posers will think of them. I think this song kicks ass, in fact, i think blink 182 kicks ass, not because of how the band is categorized, but because the music is good. I listen to what i like, and i couldnt really give a shit if others like it or not. And besides, blink only became popular because the freaks and punks listened to them, and the preps and the populars got it from us because they're all scared of choosing their own music to like because, "OMG What if my preppy friends think my bands suck!?!?"

This song has special meaning to me bc one of my very close friends almost commited suicide this year. And at the time he played this song at a dance it was strange. Anyhow, this song is about wanted to die *obviously* and telling how it'll be and stuff and it actually can change pplz minds....

This song is a powerful song, but it doesn't end bad. We are all depressed at one time or another, but we just live through it. I've never looked at from the point of suicide, I just see it as myself getting away from all the shit in my little town. Getting all my stuff, boarding up my room, telling mom its not her fault, and leaving. I can see how suicide can fit in those lyrics too but it just doesn't mean that to me. It means different things to different people, thats why its a great song.

this song is about a teen just before he kills himself (its named after a kid named Adam they once knew). its sad and depressing but its real and its not so corny like all of the other blink songs. Teenage life is made up to be all happy, innocent and loving but in reality its very hard and depressing to go through. thats what the song is about

Technically were all posers. None of us were Blink 182's first fan...we heard of em from someone else who heard it from someone else...ect. Embrace the label and it cease's to exist.

first of all this is an amazing song- i love everything about it, and i think that you dickheads are going right against what this site is about. we are supposed to post lyrics and give opinions, meanings etc. about songs, not come online just to bitch about them. secondly, i agree with ORANGE-tomorrow, i mean i am the first to admit that i only liked Blink when someone told me about them and i heard some of their songs, but some of you lot are CRAP fans if the second they do something you don't like, you bail out on them. seems to me that you weren't really fans in the beginning. Blink are a great band and if you can't see through some of their latest songs and remember all the good stuff they've done... then you don't deserve the title of a blink fan.
oh and just for the record, yeh i know the older stuff is better but i LOVE their latest album anyway.
