Lyrics for Billie Jean as interpreted by Mru007

Billie Jean Lyrics
She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene
I said don't mind, but what do you mean I am the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round
She said I am the one will dance on the floor in the round

She told me her name was Billie Jean, as she caused a scene
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round

People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
And mother always told me be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

For forty days and forty nights
The law was on her side
But who can stand when she's in demand
Her schemes and plans
'Cause we danced on the floor in the round
So take my strong advice, just remember to always think twice
(Do think twice) Do think twice! (Achakoo!)

She told my baby we'd danced till three, then she looked at me
Then showed a photo my baby cried his eyes were like mine (oh, no!)
'Cause we danced on the floor in the round, baby (Pa hoo (hee hee hee) Ta, uh)

People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
She came and stood right by me
Then the smell of sweet perfume
This happened much too soon
She called me to her room

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
She says I am the one

Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover

Billie Jean is
Billie Jean is
Billie Jean is

Not my lover
Not my lover
Not my lover
Not my lover

Billie Jean is not my lover (she is just a girl)
Billie Jean is not my lover (she is just a girl)
Billie Jean is not my lover (she is just a girl)
Billie Jean is not my lover (she is just a girl)

Billie Jean is
Billie Jean is

Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover

Billie Jean is
Billie Jean is

Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover

Billie Jean is
Billie Jean is

there was a really interesting article in Time magazine's commemorative michael jackson issue about the artistic relationship between michael jackson and quincy jones during the making of thriller. apparently quincy really, really didn't like the bass line in the beginning of "billie jean," but michael was adamant about including it.

i just thought this was kind of an interesting story, and proved how in tune michael really was with pop music. i don't know about others, but when i think of michael, the first three things i think of are the moonwalk, the thriller video, and that infectious bass line in the beginning of this song. say what you want about michael, but he was truly an artist.

DRMFreeZone, though you've made what's probably the most logical point I've yet to read here, I have to disagree. I always thought the song was more about regret, and from what I've read in one of his less popular biographies, (Margo Jefferson on Michael Jackson, if anyone's interested) I'm almost positive that it is. The referense to his mother's warnings of "be careful what you do, because a lie become the truth" isn't so much of an excuse as it is him regretting not listening to her. The song is about scandal, admitting to his mistakes, the possiblity of fathering a child while still being a child himself, the fact that the child isn't his is just luck on his behalf. I absolutely agree with the injustice of blaming her promiscuity while ignoring the shame of using a woman for sex, though.

Dude!!!!! Michael is an amazing singer yet he has been made fun of since they made that report about him being a child melester but i don't believe that and never have. Who the HELL would make up somethig like that, those people are ass holes and rasist. Who the fuck would not know that their child is with the KING OF POP!!! The press has been making up SHIT about him for a long time. That is the reason he made the song "leave me alone".

with a gun to my head i would bet that even if you weren't a michael jackson fan (which THANKFULLY i am), you like this song. or, any MJ song for that matter. that is rare in an artist. his music is... just legendary. this song and many many others by him will honestly live for as long as there are people on earth.

I'm going to have to go against the grain here (ratings or no ratings) and admit that personally I never liked this particular song very much. Interestingly for some reason I'd always misheard the lyric as "the CHANCE is not my son" = he'd slept with the woman during the past, but he didn't think he was the father and she had no proof he was. If there was no indiscretion on his part (i.e., if he'd followed his mother's advice) then why would it even be an issue?

Too many young men shift blame for an unwanted pregnancy by accusing the mother (whether true or not) of sleeping with someone else, as if that absolves them of all responsibility of having deceived and/or taken advantage of the woman physically and emotionally in order to get what they wanted (we see stuff like this on Maury all the time). MJ's admonition in the song for them to "be careful" (whatever exactly that means) is overshadowed by his repeated denials and use of sexual innuendo ("danc[ing] on the floor in the round"), and so comes off as an endorsement of sexual promiscuity and the "chance" ethic. Ultimately it's not the identity of the kid's father that is important, only whether the singer had lived up to his professed ideals and kept his integrity; which it sounds like (based on the overall theme and emphasis of the song) he did not.

Question. Why can't people just comment on the song instead of commenting on how his personal life was? He went through a whole lot of bullshit in his life and still managed to remain positive and help so many people. There wasn't anything strange or weird about him. He tried to compensate for the childhood he didn't have as an adult. That's understandable to me.

Okay..I'm being a hypocrite.. anyway..

The song actually is about a girl who apparently climbed a fence/gate/wall or whatever and was relazing by his pool in a swimsuit & then accused him of being the father of ONE of her twins. He didn't even know her. He said initially that it was just about groupies and things he experienced with his brothers. It may be a mix of that too but the actual Billie Jean triggered the song.

How about the video? What does this mean, please stop debating gay or your disgust with MJ. I have always wondered what the photographer represented (paparazzi??), the tiger (no idea), why does everything light up that he touches (is he a deity or ghost), and why does he disappear when he gets in bed.

There are so many questions, but does anyone have any ideas.

The song's lyrics refer to a real-life experience, in which a mentally ill female fan claimed that Jackson fathered one of her twins.
a young woman wrote a letter to Jackson, informing the singer that he was the father of one of her twins. Jackson, who regularly received letters of this kind, had never met the woman in question and ignored it. The woman sent more letters to Jackson, claiming that she loved him and wanted to be with him. She wrote of how happy they would be, bringing up the child together. She pondered how Jackson could ignore his own flesh and blood(his "child")The letters disturbed the singer to the extent that he suffered nightmares.

Following the letters, Jackson received a parcel containing a photograph of the fan, as well as a letter and a gun. Jackson was horrified—the letter asked that the pop star kill himself on a certain day and at a specific time. The fan would do the same once she had killed their baby. She wrote that if they could not be together in this life, then they would be in the next. To his mother's dismay, Jackson had the photograph framed and hung above the dining room table of their family home. Afterward, the Jacksons discovered that the female fan had been sent to a psychiatric hospital.this female came in mind when he wrote billie jean.
he talks about the court case(for 40 days and for 40 nights, the law was on her side)

the lady shows alot of interest in michael, and beleives he is the father of her child (I said dont mind but what do u mean, I am the one)

IT'S A BREAK UP SONG!!

He's going out with a girl and he sort of likes her, but then she gets pregnant and he's not ready to be a father, so he denies that he's the father and dumps her.

(Oh, and don't shoot me here. I'm not trying to say Michael Jackson personally would do something like that. Artists don't personally do everything that they say they do in their songs. >_>)

This is my favorite song by Michael Jackson. He obviously didn't want to be blamed for something he didn't do when he wrote it. Michael's death is tragic, but his influence will live on. I am so glad he got to influence our world with him music and dancing, and just being his own person, developing his own style. Minus the bad stuff, Michael is a huge inspiration. I can't believe there aren't more comments on here. Michael Jackson -very important person. Rest in peace.

A timeless classic. the song/performance that cemented him as the King. one of the all-time greatest songs that'll stand forever. I rocked it when since I could remember, back in the late 80s, and still do to this day
