One, two, three, four
Woo-hoo-hoo
Woo-hoo-hoo

She called me late last night to say she loved me so
It didn't matter anymore
I'll say she never cared and that she never will
And do it all again, I guess I'll have to wait until then

And if I get drunk, well, I'll pass out
On the floor now, baby
You won't bother me no more
And if you're drinkin'
Well, you know that you're my friend and I'll say
I think I'll have myself a beer

Woo-hoo-hoo
Woo-hoo-hoo

She called me late last night to say she loved me so
But I guess she's changed her mind
Well, I should have known it wouldn't be all right
But I can't live without her, so I won't even try

And if I get drunk, well, I'll pass out
On the floor now, baby
You won't bother me no more
And if you're drinkin'
Well, you know that you're my friend and I'll say
I think I'll have myself a beer

Maybe someday, I'll think of what to say
Maybe next time I'll remember what you do
She looks like heaven, maybe this is hell
Said she'd do it all again, she promised not to tell!

And if I get drunk, well, I'll pass out
On the floor now, baby
You won't bother me no more
And it's okay, boy
'Cause you know we'll be good friends and I'll say
I think I'll have myself a beer
I think I'll have myself a

Whoa, oh, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Woo-hoo-hoo
Woo-hoo-hoo

    My Interpretation

The lines that stand out: "She looks like Heaven, maybe this is Hell" He's saying he still has feelings for her, but she'll only put him through Hell again if he goes back to her. "If I get drunk and I'm passed out on the floor, you won't bother me no more." The thought of her doesn't bother him while he's intoxicated, but it's not really a good solution (which is why he words it so bluntly).

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
