Lyrics for Istanbul (not Constantinople) as interpreted by Irrational

Istanbul (not Constantinople) Lyrics
Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night
Every gal in Constantinople
lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
so if you've got a date in Constantinople
she'll be waiting in Istanbul

Even old New York
was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Turks
Istanbul

This song is ADDICTIVE! It's the kind of thing that sticks in your head all day. But that's a good thing.

My roommate wants to study abroad in Turkey, so I plan to meet up with her in Istanbul and sing this song. Maybe I can get exiled.

The original was done by The Four Lads.
The one on the Mona Lisa Smile soundtrack was by The Trevor Horn Orchestra.

i've heard part of the original version on a documentary about the drusades, actually. the first time i found out the song was a remake.

still a great song, especially the version on Severe Tire Damage.

That episode of Tiny toons was my first introduction to TMBG... I never really got into TMBG, but I've always wanted to... just been to lazy... And yeah, Particle man was on that episode also... there was a third song too, but I don't remember what it was... :(

o.O in the movie you willl notice, after the second people just liked it better that way, and during the violin section, Plucky looks like Linnel, and Porky looks like Flansburgh(sp?)

You will also notice that most of the instrumentals of TMBG music videos are by Flansy.
