Minutes seem like days
Since fire ruled the sky
The rich became the beggars
And the fools became the wise
Memories linger in my brain
Of burning from the acid rain
A pain I never have won

Nothing here remains
No future and no past
No one could foresee
The end that came so fast
Hear the prophet make his guess
That paradise lies to the west
So join his quest for the sun

Shades of death are all I see
Fragments of what used to be

The world slowly decays
Destruction fills my eyes
Harboring the image
Of a spiraling demise
Burning winds release their fury
Simulating judge and jury
Drifting flurries of pain

Deafening silence reigns
As twilight fills the sky
Eventual supremacy
Daylight waits to die
Darkness always calls my name
A pawn in this recurring game
Humanity going insane

Shades of death are all I see
Fragments of what used to be

Minutes seem like days
Corrosion fills the sky
Morbid dreams of anarchy
Brought judgment in disguise
Memories linger in my brain
Life with nothing more to gain
Perpetual madness remains

Shades of death are all I see
Skeletons of society
Fragments of what used to be
Skeletons of society

General Comment:Seasons in the Abyss video was in front of the pyramids so I look at this song from the context of past societies. This song is from that vantage point. How great societies are destroyed almost instantly by global natural events like a comets or asteroids
(Since fire ruled the sky… Memories linger in my brain… of burning from the acid rain… Burning winds release their fury simulating judge and jury drifting fury of pain) yes acid rain can be caused by more than just nuclear fallout.

Skeletons of Society are the building, structures and remnants left over that we do not understand
(The world slowly decays... Nothing here remains…. No future and no past… no once could foresee the end that came so fast… deafening silence reigns… a pawn in this recurring game.)

When they are found thousands of years later they are misinterpreted.
(The rich became the beggars and the fools became the wise)

General Comment:A nice feel-good song about how we're all skeletons of society and not responsible for own individual actions. Everything can change so why change yourself.

General Comment:the start definatly sounds like its about the after effects of a nuclear war but as the song i think it also talks about how it happens when it says "Eventual supremacy" as well as "Morbid dreams of anarchy Brought judgment in disguise" which mean peoples dreams of anarchy brought on the judgement day which christianity seems to talk about when almost everyone dies

General Comment:For some reason, I was watching The Omen in theaters 2 days ago and this quote "When the Jews return to Zion / And a comet rips the sky / And the Holy Roman Empire rises, / Then You and I must die. / From the eternal sea he rises, / Creating armies on either shore, / Turning man against his brother / 'Til man exists no more. " appeared.

This quote kind of made me think of this song....oh well...

General Comment:and that whole paradise lies to the west bit is most likely bogus religious groups trying to herd the last humans to their cause

\"even to the ends of the earth religion shall infest
    minds of the pure\"

nice quote eh .... i made it up :P
