Cursed Earth,
Cursed Earth,
Cursed Earth,
Cursed Earth.

I will never feed off the evergreen luster of your heart all
Because we all live in the valley of the walls when we speak
We can peak from the windows of their mouths to see the land
The women chant as they fly up to the sun.

You never think you know why,
Know, You never think you know why,
Know, You never think you know why,
Know, Ever think you know why,
Know.

Books all say different things while people flap their yellow wings
Trying to soar by being a whore of life
And almost everything the sheep that ran off from the herd may be dead
But now's a bird able to fly able to die able to break your cursed earth
(fuck your mother's earth)

You never think you know why,
Know, You never think you know why,
Know, You never think you know why,
Know, Ever think you know why,
Know.

On the other side, on the other side, the other side,
Do you ever try to fly, Do you ever try to fly?
Have you ever wanted to die, you ever want to die?

Don't ever try to fly, don't ever try to fly,
Don't ever try to fly, unless you leave your body on the other side,
Never try to die, you ever try to die.

Know, You never think you know why,
Know, You never think you know why,
Know, You never think you know why,
Know, Ever think you know why,
Know.

General Comment:goddamn. it's about some gang member who gets locked up but he can't hang so he goes into protective custody. there's alot of gangs in west hollywood which is in los angeles which is the gang capitol of the united states of america where millions are jailed and punked by prison gangs. alot of armenians in west hollywood, too. armenians like system of a down. armenian power 13 and white fence has alot of armenians in'em and they're big in jail so if someone "rolls it up" (they get yellow suits like child molesters/ sensitive needs yards).prrrt.

General Comment:I just had a read through the lyrics again, and thought that this song could have been about japanese suicide bombers. I mean, "valley of the walls" may have been a referal to the japanese soldiers still in China during the rape of Nanking. And the reference to "have you ever tried to fly, have you ever wanted to die" could be talking about the training camps where the japanese were brainwashed to be suicidal in an attempt to protect Japan. also the lyrics "the land where women chant as they fly up to the sun" could be refering to the ideal of Japans sun being the thing they're fighting to protect. "yellow wings" is also a hint towards being about a part of asia. And the "unless you leave your body on the other side" part could be based around the fact that if anyone had left on a suicide mission they were not allowed to return.

    General Comment:"Cursed Earth

    The world is damned

"I will never feed off the evergreen luster of your heart all because we all live in the valley of the wasps"

I do not want to be like the other 'annoying insects' in society that use your emotions against you

"when they speak we can peak from the windows of their mouths"

When they talk we can see what they're really saying

"to see the land the women chant as they fly up to the sun."

we see the world for what it is, and we all want to leave. The "women" may refer to mother nature or nurturers.

"Books all say different things while people flap their yellow wings trying to soar by being a whore of life and almost everything"

Books all have different information we regard as "fact" while people try to suceed by attracting attention

"the sheep that ran off from the herd may be dead but now's a bird able to fly able to die able to fuck your mothers earth."

The people who broke free from their "cliques" and live by their own values are free from this damned world

"On the other side, on the other side, the other side,
Did you ever try to fly, Did you ever try to fly?
Have you ever wanted to die, you ever wanted to die?
Don't ever try to fly, don't ever try to fly,Don't ever try to fly, unless you leave your body on the other side, Never try to die, you ever try to die"

Have you ever wanted to leave this place? Don't worry, the afterlife will come and you will be free.

This song is basically about knowing the world is crap because of the flith that infest and that the afterlife will set us free.

General Comment:For me it sounds like it could be about life and afterlife. The beginning talks about how we are limited in life and live in the valley of the walls. I think the chorus is about how people will think they understand life but they don't. Then the second verse talks about how people try to be successful in life, but life isn't everything. The sheep that died is now able to fly and do things that we cannot do in our cursed earth. Then I think the next part is about people wondering what death is like, and if it is possible to do what we really want to do, fly, in the afterlife. But the end is telling people don't try to see what the afterlife is like unless you are ready to never come back to our life as is it now. So maybe it's saying don't attempt suicide unless you are really going/ready to die, because we really don't know what life would be after death.
I could be wrong because this is just my opinion.

General Comment:quite sure this is a song about holy wars. "Have you ever wanted to fly?"would mean doing something that would most surely get you killed in the name of your religion, like Joan of Arc. "Have you ever wanted to die?" means are you willing to die for your beliefs.

General Comment:Adding to my above comment, the chorus line might also be "You never think. You know. WHY?", basically asking them how they just take something for granted and never question it.

My Interpretation:This is a song that's manages to be against organized religion, society, and the material world, all at once.

    "Cursed earth"
    He hates the material world.

"I will never feed off the evergreen luster of your heart all because we all live in the valley of the walls."
He's saying that he won't try to seek material pleasures because he knows that that's simple minded and sees how were trapped trying to seek pleasure.

"When we speak we can peak from the windows of their mouths to see the land."
I'm a little unsure about this line, I think he's saying when he speaks up to say something different he sees through the lies of conformism and sees the world as it really is.

"The women chant as they fly up to the sun."
People try to pray away their problems, but they're just wasting time as the problem gets worse. I think it says women in this case because women tend to be more emotional and thus more religious (I'm not really sure about that I just heard it somewhere, where exactly I forgot).

"You never think you know why."
I think there should be a comma between "You never think" and "you know why" because he's saying that people don't think, they just assume what their told is true (ex. people believe religion gives meaning to life so they "know why").

"Books all say different things while people flap their yellow wings trying
to soar by being a whore of life and almost everything."
People think that being religious makes them saved of better than other people, thus making them whores of what people claim is the truth.

"The sheep that ran off from the herd may be dead but now's a bird, able to fly, able to die, able
    to fuck your mother('s?) earth"
Society thinks that non-conformists are stupid but in reality they're free, and they know they're mortal, and they're able to make a difference for future generations and not just themselves.

    "Know, On the other side"
People claim to know what happens after death.

"Do you ever try to fly? Have you ever wanted to die? Don't ever try to fly, unless you leave your body on the other side. Never try to die."
These are the lines that really confused and bug me. This song makes a couple references to the story of Icarus in Greek mythology, first one being the women flying into the sun. Icarus flew into the sun out of curiosity. I think the "Don't ever try to fly!" line is society trying to clamp down on people who try to think differently and trying to destroy curiosity, making it seem like a bad thing that'll make them "die".

    "Ever think you know why?"
I think this is him trying to say "Wake up!", but I'm really unsure.

This song is a masterpiece, and it can be interpreted many more ways than just this. Serj is a lyrical genius and lets the listeners take their own meaning from the song, so I hope you find your own too.

Song Meaning:"I will never feed off the evergreen luster of your heart all because we all live in the valley of the walls"

Evergreen luster reminds me of Eden, so based on that I think this means that he will never shoot down your beliefs because he himself has no idea what happens after death because "we all live in the valley of the walls" meaning we can't see outside of the walls without leaving it aka, we don't know what happens after death. Even if you don't buy the Eden thing, think of it as the happiness and security that you know everything or have a belief.

"When we speak we can peak from the windows of their mouths to see the land the women chant as they fly up to the sun"

I can't figure out what this means. Those are some screwed up cheeks.

"You never think you know why"

It is impossible to know why certain things happen, yet people continue to rant about how they know.

"Books all say different things while people flap their yellow wings"

Books might refer to just the bible or all religious texts. They all say different things about what people should do and more important to the song, what happens after death. Still people "flap their yellow wings" (The yellow wings are the book's, wings are the pages) meaning that both believe in them and try to convert everyone else.

"Trying to soar by being a whore of life and almost everything"

"The sheep that ran off from the herd may be dead but now's a bird able to fly able to die able
    to fuck your mother's earth"

The sheep that ran off from the herd is the person who is thinking for themselves about what happens after death or simply not worrying about it and because of that he is free. So he is still able to die and I'm guessing fuck your mother's earth is either a sexual reference or a reference to mother earth which I'm guessing means he can do what ever he wants to.

    "On the other side"

    Death.

"Do you ever try to fly"

    Try to think for yourself.

"Have you ever wanted to die"

So that you can find out what happens after death.
